Remington 700 ADL 30-06 firing when safety pushed to fire

being right out of the box dosent mean there isnt crud in the trigger, lawyer goop has caused issues with remington triggers also. That said the design flaw, is still there, and has the possibility of causing a failure.

I still think its best to replace the walker triggers, but everyone has to make that decision for themselves. If a gun DOESNT have the trigger replaced, its not any more inherently dangerous that a gun that does. Safe gun handling maters a great deal, more so than any mechanical device.

Regretfully this is not true
In my experience, with several Remingtons owned by myself and family since the sixties, the trigger, when properly cleaned, lubed, adjusted and maintained, there has been no problem. When misadjusted, dirty and neglected, the trigger is troublesome

I have a beautiful Remington 722, has anyone installed a timney in one? I really don't want to alter the rifle a whole lot, but can't pass the rifle to my children knowing it's faulty.

I understand. But with all due respect, yours is a very small sample from a very large problem.

I had a Rem 700 in 6MM rem
One year in the field I pushed off the safety & the gun fired.
I kicked it around thinking that I must have hit the trigger.
When it happened again I took it to a smith & when he gave me a price to repair it I sold it to him.
It was the most beautiful gun I ever owned---I still kick myself for selling it--BAD MISTAKE

if you don,t feel safe with your remington trigger, change it or sell the rifle. if i didn,t feel safe thats what i would do. if a rifle goes off for any reason and hits a person it was not pointed in a safe direction, up or down is the only was to load or unload. i would like to know the stats(numbers) of people hurt by the rifle going off unintentionaly caused by the trigger only. i,m sure some were caused by a trigger that was misajusted and operator error, but was blamed on the trigger to try and escape blame for the shooting. talk about rifles(winchester and marlin lever actions and there are millions of the pre-80,s rifles out there))- that have caused many people to be hurt and killed over the years when loading or unloading that didn,t get a safety added that realy worked untill the 80,s and they were made from the 1860,s untill the 1980,s with out it. and i,m only talking about operator error not a trigger malfuction, but i,m sure trigger malfunction factored into some of them. eastbank.

Replace it with a Timney, I've heard that the new trigger from Remington is not very good.
I've been very happy with the feel of the X Mark (ie new Remington design) trigger I put on mine after I joined the "fires when you take the safety off" club. But now it's under recall due to some of them being misadjusted at the factory. So I'll be getting a Timney.
