Remington 700 SPS Tactical

    very handsome rifle, but is it worth the girthy barrel when sacrificing barrel length? this may be the weapon i buy after my deployment, i would appreciate some opinions.

    With the medium burn powders used in the .308 you're not going to lose that much (velocity), and it'll be a lot less weildy.

    The 20" barrels are fine if most of your shooting will be 800 yards or less. However, if you plan to do alot of shooting at 1k, you would be better served by a 24" or 26" barrel.

    +1 on the longer barrel for long range shooting. I'm sure the 20" would be fun out to 500 yards.
