YOu chose an outstanding caliber. The .260 is very accurate and very versatile. In the Scandanavian countries calibers like it like the 6.5x55 are even used to take Moose. I believe they call them elk.
Outdoor life's gun editor "Jim Carmichel" was instrumental in persuading the gun companies to bring out this caliber although I believe if you go far enough back in time you will find he did not invent it as he claims.

Got one in 7mm08; Weaver V3 on top. Three-shot groups run just under one MOA, which ain't bad for 3X
So far, mine doesn't care whether it's factory ammo or handloads; POI is the same.
I sighted it in, first. Then, I decided to lighten the trigger. Found the stock screws were barely snug. Did the trigger; reassembled and tightened the screws properly. No change in POI.
I think it's a keeper.

, ArtI got one in .308 for Christmas. I haven't had a chance to ring it out that much, because the wind always seems to be blowing 35-50 miles an hour whenever I can get to the range. From what I have been able to gather so far, the accuracy with factory ammo is no worse than anything else I have carried, and I have had some decent groups considering the circumstances. But talk about easy to move around in the hills and woods! I also was pleased to learn that recoil was negligible for a rifle that light. I intend to make it my all purpose rifle.
The better half picked up her new rifle yesterday. This thing is so light we will have to tie and anvil to it to keep it from floating away. Ran most of a box of shells just playing, but it was barely 30 degrees and a 25 mile an hour wind. Considering the conditions and off the hood of a pickup it has definite posibilities. I think you could carry this thing forever.
