Well,

I am the proud owner of a Remington 788 Carbine in 7mm08.

Went over the crown and re checked the weapon thoroughly. Its in super great shape.

Can't wait to take it out and shoot.

Thanks guys!

Wonderful, wonderful rifle the 788.
I agree! While I love the Savage line of rifles,I would definitely choose the Remmy 788 in 7mm/08 without even thinking about it. Especially at that price WITH a Weaver scope.

heeler,

I stand corrected young man, my forgetter seems at times to blink at the wrong times. I'm glad the young man listened and bought the 788, he'll be pleased.

Its good to find so many 788 fans out there. Nothing like an ugly duckling that can out shoot rifles costing way more money

Natman - thanks for the correction.
Everything else in my post should be accurate - that is; I love my lefty 788 in .308 and it's an awsome gun.

Wow - I learned something so early in the year! :)

I bought two 788s in .243 18 1/2 barrels back in 1982 and would LOVE to find another one in 7mm-08. I'd buy that gun just for sentimental sake, sight unseen, for that price. Last year at a gun show I saw a nice 788 in .243 for 600.00 but, the guy wouldn't bunge. I agree with an above statement that they were out shooting the 700's. Yes, the triggers are really rough.

788 in .308

I put a little $$$ down on a 788 in .308, it is in great shape but I could not get them down off the price. Oh, well...guess I will go ahead and get it.
