Here are some bits from a 1/12/25 article in the Ark. Democrat-Gazette, which is behind a paywall.

The new owner is "Ammo+ Division for Czechoslovak Group, known as CSG, a Prague-based arms conglomerate that purchased Remington and three other major ammo groups late last year." The brands now under CSG (also called the Kinetic Group) are CCI, Federal, HEVI-Shot, Remington Ammunition and Speer.

CSG will be keeping management and employees in place at the Remington plant in Lonoke, and plans investment there to improve the brand.

The deal needed an OK from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), who said in June 2024 there were no unresolved security concerns. Still, there were political leaders who did not want foreign ownership of ammunition company in US. CSG pointed out they are a NATO supplier and work with a number of other US defense companies.

Also noted in the article, Arkansas has ammunition plants for Fiochi and SIg Sauer, and primer manufacturer White River Energetics. The Sig Sauer plant recently built a new capability to support U.S. Army's Next Generation Squad Weapons Program.

Dang… CCI and Federal and Remington and Speer now all owned by the same company. Hope quality doesn’t suffer across the board. Federal used to be my go-to brand but quality control dropped during the COVID years IME. And Winchester was already on my generally avoid list. Who’s left in the US?

Remington is one of the bigger employers in Lonoke County. Its good to see that they plan to keep the existing employees. In my opinion they need to expand/improve the sales department. We aren't seeing a lot of Remington ammo in the local stores. But I think they are selling everything that they make.

CCI, Federal and Speer are all brands under the same umbrella for decades. Olin in the beginning, then later Blount, Lehman Bros, then ATK. (ATK spun off its sporting products becoming Vista Outdoor)

I knew CCI/Speer were but I thought Federal was separate. Thanks for the info. I thought Olin was Winchester.

I thought Olin was Winchester.
Correct, but Frank Olin apparently invested in Federal too, separately from his ownership interest in the Olin Corporation (and Western Cartridge Co).
It looks like Federal was owned by "The Olin Foundation", probably established on Frank Olins death. Interesting guy this Frank Olin.
Federal History

So Frank Olin (and his heirs) had theirs paws in Western, Winchester, Federal and eventually CCI, Speer, and lately, Remington.

I find it amazing that the .Gov allowed this purchase, when they denied Nippon, purchasing US Steel.

I would like to see it be in American hands, of all people though, the Czechs are the best bet.

I recently bought some Remington golden bullets 22 and they are awful

I tried to use Archive to get the whole link to post on here, unfortunately the original article has it locked down pretty good, so not even archive could post the whole article that's stuck behind the pay wall. Normally it works, but their coding for the website for the article must be different t than say WaPo and NYT.

I'd have to ask my cousin who at least worked at Federal in the Twin Cities if they'll still be around or not.

Yep.
If Trump lost, Democrats won Senate and House........we would be in a full blown gun panic and US companies would be falling all over themselves trying to get their foot in the door of selling guns and ammo.
They are sure in no hurry getting stuff back in stock at pre pandemic prices.

Of course not. If I wrote "they sure are in no hurry getting stuff back in stock at pre 9/11 prices" ..........wouldn't you think thats a bit dumb?
There isn't the demand and thinking you are going to be buying something today for what it cost five years ago ignores reality.
And "stuff" IS back in stock, just not at the price you want to pay.

I mean really, I would love to turn back the clock to 2005 so I could buy a few more cases of CCI Blazer when Academy was selling it for $3.86 per box of fifty.

Here's a link to the more than 30 small arms ammunition producers in the US:
https://allamerican.org/lists/ammunition/ If there is demand, there will be supply. It won't be at prices we remember as youngsters, but nothing else is either.

Not many are vertically integrated, though.
Most are buying powder and primers and a lot are buying brass and bullets to load for sale under their name.

Mark Mark: That's a shame that Rem. Golden Bullets are "awful" for many people.

It's perhaps ironic that they allow my S&W M&P (standard) to function very reliably, especially compared to most of the cheap Winchester ammo. The Win. blowback ("puff" back) feels so weak by comparison.

Same. In fact my AA .22 1911 conversion specifically recommends the RGB for proper function. They’re 100% for me.

Nothing is back to pre-Scamdemic prices. Don't expect that to happen, especially with something as unnecessary for the general public as personal small arms ammo. I would love to see $0.67/box 22 Long ammo. I could get one more round in my 22 rifle's tube magazine than LR ammo.

How so? Just curious.
Remington Goldens have disappointed me for more than half a century. I'll buy them only if they are a great bargain. I have close to 6K of the Rem Goldens in the plastic tubs.

I'm not alone, Remington rimfire is one of the least liked .22 on the market. That saddens me because I grew up less than a half hour from the Lonoke plant and took great pride that Remington made ammo close to home.

I much prefer anything CCI or Federal, then Winchester and lastly Remington.

But they were all owned by the Federal Group Vista at one point anyway

Name something in any market that is back to pre-pandemic prices. Inventory right no is plentiful and I get sale notices multiple times a day
