Remington model 700 sps tactical?

I just purchased a Remington 700 tactical chambered in 223 rem. I have not gotten chance a chance to get it scoped and shoot it. I have read some feed back regarding it and now I am wondering how to fix the issues with stock flex in the fore end. Does anyone have one of these rifle? Have you experienced any problems with it?

I got one last fall in .308. didn't have much time to shoot b-4 the snow came but was fair with Federal 150 gr factory ammo. Just started to do some hand loads. If you are referring to the Houge overmould stock I agree with you. to flexible. I am considering a B&C A-3 stock as soon as the snow disappears.

I like the idea of the rubberized surface on the stock. I however do not like it flexing and touching the barrel while it sits on bipod. I am thinking about pouring resin into the stock. I hope to find out if this is possible or if its a no-no.

I havent taken this rifle out of stock but the online pics show barrel channel as a skeleton.

I have one in .223 that is Sub MOA if I try.. I'm working up a 69 grain SMK load for it, and I'll be working on a 55 grain Dogtown HP load..
I'll guess I'll get another stock if I need to.. But I don't now..

Just shoot the rifle. I have two SPS Tacticals. One in .308 and one in .223. The stock flex has no impact on accuracy. It might be because the barrel is so heavy that the slight contact with the stock doesn't bother it. I don't know. All I do know is that I shot several .5 MOA and smaller groups with both, while they were in their stock form.

I'd say, put the money into the scope and mount first. On my SPS Tacticals, the stock was the last thing I changed. I know that there's a lot of internet chatter about the stock on the Tacticals, but I saw no improvement in accuracy after changing stocks, although I did move up on the ladder of bragging rights.

I shot mine in .223 for the first time a few weeks ago. I sighted it in using a single point rest, and quickly, and was shooting some very nice groups at 90 yards. I found no issues with the Hogue stock but that may change in time as I get more serious with accuracy. Overall I like the stock, but that was only its first time out.

It is one seriously fun rifle. I'm thinking that accuracy is going to be pretty doggone good. BTW, I have it set up with a DNZ Gamereaper mount and a 3-9x40 Prostaff.

I've got the same rifle. I was bored one snowy day and used a socket wrapped with sandpaper to open up the area where the forearm contacted the barrel. I can now easily slide a dollar bill through there when the rifle is resting on the bipod.

Did I notice a difference an accuracy? Not really.

Shoot the rifle before you try to fix something that probably ain't broke. Lots of guys complain about the tupperware stocks, but 99.9% work just fine. The most accurate rifle I've ever shot was setting in one of those injection molded stocks that would bend nearly 1/2" at the end if you tried.

Most of my bolt guns are in McMillan, or other quality stocks. I did so primarily because they are 3/4 lb. to 1 lb. lighter than factory plastic or wood stocks and look better. None of my rifles shot better after the change.

I have one just like yours. I initially used a sandbag rest to shoot and only got 1 1/2" accuracy at 100 yards with regular PMC 55 gr. ammo. I then added a bipod to it, the ones you connect to the rifle sling attachment (I forget the brand) and it brought the accuracy down to 1" with the same ammo. I don't think it was the "stock flex", but that it was more stable with the bipod.

I have a 3-9X 40mm Sightron scope on it.

I agree with the others. Shoot it first. Have fun!

As with mine I have only seen this rifle with the Hogue rubber over-moulded stock, which I happen to like, at least so far. Does Savage currently offer this rifle with their standard plastic stock?

Nope, I don't think Savage offers a Remington rifle

Remington has the SPS Varmint, which has a 26" barrel and a standard stock.

Also the Light Tactical Rifle which has an H-S Precision stock for about $400 more dollars.

Ooops I have about the same number of Remingtons as Savages so it can get all mixed up.

Still, I have only seen the Remington SPS Tactical with the Hogue stock as is on mine.

I have an SPS Tactical and I think its a great rifle, lots of fun and plenty accurate. I can consistently get 2" (5) shot groups at 200 yards, with my handloads. This is fine with me, MOA is all I'm really after.

Yup. get the scope on and try shootin' it before you mess with anything else, it might surprise you.....
