always wanted one since the movie Saving Private Ryan, when Tom Hanks shot at the tank with his 1911 !Very nice, Mark, that's a sweet old gun.
I’m going to put new springs in it! 16# it is!Great acquisition, Mark Mark!! That gun looks to be as issued, at least from the outside. The chances of it being all original are slim but everything visible appears to be.
If you're gonna shoot it put in new springs, unless the CMP did that for you. If they didn't stay with a 16# recoil spring. That is all you need for handloads and ball ammo. Should also work fine with the former if they aren't too light.
that must have been crazy times in South East AsiaHad its twin in Vietnam 68-69.
Ok, some jelly for having the historic iron. Even if it might have seen no more service than riding around in an NG track.Check what came in! Remington Rand 1911 from the CMP. What a Beautiful piece of history !
can’t wait to load some light 45 ball for this old war horse
my Local has a Signal & Switch, but $2200 is too much for me.

it looks and feel the part! good enough for me. the top & bottom matches, and it was not refinished, so that’s COOL!Ok, some jelly for having the historic iron. Even if it might have seen no more service than riding around in an NG track.
Yes it is. Refinishing that gun would cut its value in half.it looks and feel the part! good enough for me. the top & bottom matches, and it was not refinished, so that’s COOL!
I handled a Pre War 1911 Colt, it it was very tight and the finish was blueing was amazing. The shop let me handle it before he put it online. Now this RR 1911 rattles!Yes it is. Refinishing that gun would cut its value in half.
Depending on condition, the proper parts, etc., that could very well be a reasonable price. I would certainly consider it.my Local has a Signal & Switch, but $2200 is too much for me.
Lower is a Ithaca and top is a S&S. Was not refinished but no mag. Conditions is just like my RR 1911.Depending on condition, the proper parts, etc., that could very well be a reasonable price. I would certainly consider it.
Rattley slides were universal in every Army 1911* I ever handled. Tight groups were not.Just loaded some 230 FMJ ball with 4.5g of WST for a nice light load. Wish that old war horse luck! see if she can still keep a tight group!
But it will go bang everytime you pull the trigger.I handled a Pre War 1911 Colt, it it was very tight and the finish was blueing was amazing. The shop let me handle it before he put it online. Now this RR 1911 rattles!![]()
I’m just so excited to own & shoot this bad boy! Need some period correct holster thoThat is the same maker as the one I carried as an MP in the 70’s. They still haven’t made a better battle pistol. Damn thing rattled but I qualified expert with it everytime. You could bet your life on it.
