Remington Rand 1911 - Amazing part of history

Great acquisition, Mark Mark!! That gun looks to be as issued, at least from the outside. The chances of it being all original are slim but everything visible appears to be.

If you're gonna shoot it put in new springs, unless the CMP did that for you. If they didn't stay with a 16# recoil spring. That is all you need for handloads and ball ammo. Should also work fine with the former if they aren't too light.

I’m going to put new springs in it! 16# it is!

Ok, some jelly for having the historic iron. Even if it might have seen no more service than riding around in an NG track.
it looks and feel the part! good enough for me. the top & bottom matches, and it was not refinished, so that’s COOL!

My Honey Hole shop has a Switch & Signal in the same conditions. But I’m afraid to go down the WW2 1911 rabbit hole. One is good enough, unless my other shop gets one in for $999! 😂

My other shop did get in a “Old 1911”
and I asked what brand and such… they said “it was a old Colt from WW2, but it sold the same day” they were pricing it at under $1,000. Can’t get them all I guess

Yes it is. Refinishing that gun would cut its value in half.
I handled a Pre War 1911 Colt, it it was very tight and the finish was blueing was amazing. The shop let me handle it before he put it online. Now this RR 1911 rattles! 😂

Depending on condition, the proper parts, etc., that could very well be a reasonable price. I would certainly consider it.
Lower is a Ithaca and top is a S&S. Was not refinished but no mag. Conditions is just like my RR 1911.

Just loaded some 230 FMJ ball with 4.5g of WST for a nice light load. Wish that old war horse luck! see if she can still keep a tight group!

That is the same maker as the one I carried as an MP in the 70’s. They still haven’t made a better battle pistol. Damn thing rattled but I qualified expert with it everytime. You could bet your life on it.

I’m just so excited to own & shoot this bad boy! Need some period correct holster tho

Here we go! It feed all 6 full magazine without a hiccup. Group in servicable.

I think this gun deserves a load test, and see if it will feed Speer SWC 200gn. Next week, lets go:

230g FMJ
4.2g WST
4.0g WST
3.8g WST

Speer 200g SWC
4.4 g WST see if it feeds
