I did some horsetrading and ended up with a Remington bolt action rifle chambered in 270. It's a "Sportsman 78". The serial number is B68691**. Does anyone know anything about this rifle?

Just your basic 700 action rifle in a birch stock. A cheaper version of an ADL. Usually found for significantly less than an action marked Remington 700, but a 700 none the less. I like em.

Got a good friend who has 2 of them, in 6mm and .243. Rugged, reliable, homely. Best of everything, unless you're talking about women.

Well, maybe Eastern European women.

Regards,
Rabbit.

Thanks. That link you supplied indicated it was a K-Mart version of the 700. I inherited it- so I guess it's worth what I paid- except some nimrod installed a front flip-up scope cover that won't clear the rear sight. I'm guessing they never even shot it after installing this scope, since you can't open the cover:banghead:
