I have had this .22cal for sometime but have yet to find a way to get the bolt to remain open for cleaning purposes.....I am hoping some one knows the "trick" to do this.....I tried using the safety, but nothing...

any ideas?

thanks

Some of the semi auto 22's if you pull pull the bolt back and then pull the bolt out a little it would lock the action in the open position... don't know if the Speedmaster does this or not.

The Model 552 has its op rod handle on the left in front of the receiver, so there is no way to push it in or pull it out. AFAIK, there is no way to hold open the 552 except to use a wood block or something similar.

left sided op rod

yes you are correct it is on the left....why would they make one that can not be set in the open mode?

I dunno, but other semi-auto rifles are the same way. I suggest you write to Remington and get a copy of the manual for takedown instructions for cleaning. They don't seem to have it available for download.
