Removing lead from bore of Gen 3 Colt SAA?

I have a Lewis Lead Remover, but I've found another method that works just as well. Cut a patch out of one of those yellow Lead Remover cloths and run it down the barrel with a brass (not plastic) jag tip (not a slotted tip).

With a good tight fit, it will clean it right out. It should be tight...like you've got to work to get it started. You'll need a proper rod. Shim the Lead Remover cloth with a standard patch if it's not tight enough, but that should not normally be necessary unless you are using a .40 jag for a .41 or something like that.

3% hydrogen peroxide doesn't oxidize the lead. It needs a much higher temperature than what you would use.

You sure about that? Elemental lead obviously isn't soluble, but lead oxide is, so logic tells me the reason why peroxide is in there in the first place it to help solubilize/oxidize elemental lead. Drop a lead bullet into 3% peroxide, and you'll certainly see a reaction at room temp.

At any rate, I'm a fan of the Lewis Lead Remover, I've no need for a chemical approach.
