I had written to Mn. Congressman Waltz asking him to vote against the gun control bills now in congress. Here is the email I received.

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns. I appreciate hearing from you.
As Americans, we are privileged to live in a country that strongly upholds our freedoms. We expect our federal government to represent our interests, and to keep our country safe and prosperous. The purpose of elected officials is to listen to their constituents and represent the views of their districts. It can be frustrating, even disheartening, when partisan politics seem to prevent us from solving our nations’ issues.
I firmly believe it is my duty as your Representative to listen to the values and opinions of everyone within my district. I have always maintained that representing my constituents’ concerns is the best way to serve the public. Many of the problems we are currently facing do not have easy answers. Solving these problems will require a bipartisan effort with sacrifices on both sides of the party line. I believe that all of us – Democrats, Republicans, and Independents – can find common ground. We must maintain our respect and good will, and remember it is our job to serve. Representing the First District of Minnesota is a special honor.
I know that political gridlock is no way to get things done, which is why I am proud to say I have always worked with my colleague across the aisle to develop legislation that helps all Americans. In the 112th Congress I introduced the Infrastructure Jobs and Energy Independence Act, H.R. 1861, with several Republican colleagues. This bipartisan bill is a common sense approach to helping solve our jobs and energy crisis. You might also be interested to know that another bill I introduced in the 112th, the Veterans' Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitative Services Improvements Act of 2011, H.R. 1855, received wide bipartisan support. Rational bills such as these deserve to be discussed and passed because they create jobs, boost our economy, and help Americans.
Rest assured, I will always support legislation, regardless of political affiliation, when they are in the best interest of our district.
Thank you again for sharing your views with me, and I look forward to hearing from you again in the future. For more information about my activities representing southern Minnesota in Congress, please visit http://walz.house.gov and sign up for my e-newsletter.

Tim Walz

A canned response. I replied with this.

Congressman Waltz,
Thank you for your quick reply to my email concerning the gun control bills that we are facing. I appreciate all that you have done for all of us in Minnesota, but I must question this statement in your reply. “Solving these problems will require a bipartisan effort with sacrifices on both sides of the party line.“ Why should we "sacrifice" any part of our Second Amendment rights? There are many issues where sacrifices can be made, but I my opinion our RIGHTS are not one of those issues. On this I must disagree with you.
I do however want to thank you once again for all the good work you do for our state.

He is normally in our corner but I felt an extra push was in order.

I would make sure he knows that breaking his Constitutional Oath 'just a little' or 'only once or twice' is still unacceptable and will result in the People working passionately to unseat him.

I'm having similar problems with my senator in PA. You should post a link for his email form so the rest of us here at THR can contact him.
