Is it possible to mix up the trigger pin and the magazine catch pin, or are they interchangeable?

Is a no1 safety supposed to let the bolt striker drop to the half-cock notch? My No4 safety blocks the trigger from dropping the bolt at all.

EDIT: I found a small area on the safety lever that had been impacted on the edge and mushroomed up, preventing proper function. I carefully sanded that down on a stone, and polished all the other flat surfaces of the safety, now she works like she should.

My brass stretched 4/1000ths during firing, and the chamber is a bit loose. Normal for Enfields, I'm satisfied so far with that.

A friend was overhauling one, but I think he gave up before he finished.

I recall an advert for plans to convert a SMLE to a reasonable approximation of a Remington Lee sporting rifle. Right up to .405 WCF if wanted.

Everything is sandblasted, the front sight holes are tapped, the rifle functions, and I spray the cerakote tomorrow.

I decided nutmeg was too plain looking, so I decided to pony up the extra $35.00 for forest camo.

IF I can get the damned payment accepted by boyds. Anyone else having trouble with buying things on their website?

I purchased a thumbhole stock for a T/C Encore rifle from Boyds a year ago this past January. I also chose the Forest Camo and had no problem ordering or paying for it. IIRC it was on my VISA Card. It also showed up when it was supposed to and fits the gun well. Hope your order goes as smooth as mine did. Can't wait to see the photos when that gets installed. Your project is coming along quicker than I thought it would and makes for a very interesting thread.

this will be my second Boyds stock, the first one is a varminter style on a heavy-barrel custom Mosin-Nagant, in coyote. I had to do a LOT of inletting, and that was before I scraped the barrel channel for the Mcgowan barrel.

I hope this one will be a little closer in fit, those English rifles are finicky about the forend and stocking up properly. She is going to be a beauty when she's finally done.

OK am I the only one having trouble with ordering from Boyds?

Tried twice on the website, couldn't get anything but a temp hold on my card.

FINALLY got through to a person, who told me their processing is down. Ok, can I place an order now? Sure she says, and takes my card and order info.

Well, that was Thursday. I check back Friday, because i never got a confirmation email. They can find only an order number under my name. It's the correct order, but when i register on boyds website, there are no orders under my name, and no charges against my account from boyds.
This is my third try with them. Anyone else having these troubles?

Edit: called back and got my confirmation email sent. Evidently they will bill me when they build the stock and ship.

So now we wait.

OK, stocks will be in hand tomorrow, in the redo I decided to go with nutmeg after all, it will match well with some leatherwork that will accompany the rifle.

So the nutmeg stocks are in hand, and they are pretty. The shop is closed today, so no starting the fitment process now.

No swivel studs either, so have to get that done too.

HOW could I pass up an opportunity to learn some gunsmithing, as well as get a great custom hunting rifle (carbine, really) out of the deal?

I got the sling swivels and studs mounted today, as well as drilled out the front screw hole to accept the king screw bushing. Tapped the bushing in with a wooden dowel for a secure press fit.

Acra-glass on the butt stock so the socket is a precise fit, and the sling should be here tomorrow.

I think you did a fantastic job of rescuing that poor Bubba of a Lee Enfield and turning it into a sweet looking, purposeful hunting rifle!

It was a little tight in the draws, had to shave a bit there with a 1/2 chisel. Also the bottom metal was VERY tight and there was a bit of judicious sanding that went on there. The barrel is floated and everything is tight.

My only problem is that the safety is back to dropping the striker to half cock if the trigger is pulled while the safety is on, instead of a complete trigger disconnect like it should. Think maybe the action is sitting a hair too proud in the stock?

I'm no smith, but I would think filing the right side of the front sight may work depending on how thick the sight is. I'm not sure you could file enough to correct for two inches at 25 yards, though, so I'd definitely give your gunsmith a call before you start going in on it.

seems like the front and rear site not lined up on the barrel. in the pic the rear site is way off to the left side of the barrel

Hello Patriot..
First, I’d want to verify. Did this rifle always shoot like this, or did something happen recently. Have you had someone else shoot it with the same results, or are you confident in your ability that you know POA & POI are 2” apart?

With those items in order, this is a large inconsistency. Having the sight at max drift at only 25yds distance, means there is a big problem. Either a problem with the sight or perhaps a bent barrel. Unfortunately, if you’re unable to diagnose yourself, you will likely need someone who can take a look at it. Difficult to diagnose online, as we would need to see what it’s doing.
