Did anyone notice the article in the most recent G&A about the re-introduction of the model 586? I cant figure out why they ever discontinued it! :)

I hope it doesn't have the lock. I can live with some MIM, but the lock pains me.

Good news they finally had the sense to start making them again. :)

I saw that article. Does anyone know if the reintroduced 586 has the IL? I hope that it is one of the "classics" without the lock.

They've been making the 586 again for quite some time. I'll be stunned if they re-re-started production without the lock.

    They'll all have the lock.

S&W said they dropped the original 586 as part of the general trend toward stainless at the time.

Sorry AC, both the 4" and 6" models have the ILS just like all the other "Classic" S&W revolvers do. :barf:

I just picked up this 586-2m very clean has been fired but in near factory condition

Price was 550$ with box/paperwork. No mim, no lock. I couldnt imagine paying 800$ for a "classic" when the real ones are out there for less $, and are better guns. I did spend almost a year looking for it local; but they are on gunbroker alot!
