This morning I decided to take my bird dog to the ER in Reno since she was about 4 days late having her litter, and she’s no spring chicken (unplanned pregnancy)

I had a couple of hours to kill while they checked her out. Sportsmans had powder, limit 1 lb. I got 1 lb H110, 100 pieces of new Starline 9mm and left a bunch of boxes of 9mm 125 gr XTPs on the shelf.

On to Scheels where I picked up 1,000 CCI #41s and some .243 Hornady GMXs. No powder but lots of .308 bullets.

3rd straight trip to Scheels where they had primers in stock.

Finding new brass, in 9mm was the biggest surprise since I haven’t seen that in quite a while.

Edit: I forgot to mention I ordered 2 lbs IMR 4451 from PV before I left.

    It does look like it.
I've been watching a lot of GB auctions. Always "Ending Soonest" and never the "Buy It Now" stuff.
SPP & SRP were $360 to $400 6 weeks ago are now selling for $200. Some auctions that started at $200 are ending with zero bids.
Just today I received emails from different sources stating that Remington was back in the ammo business.
It's looking like things are turning around.

On a local internet gun site I’ve seen asking prices of $125 for 1K primers....more than a few times now. Course the adds for $200 plus for 1K are still out there but it seems to have stabilized somewhat.

Haven't seen primers locally, but I am occasionally seeing the odd 1# powder can, and both midway and midsouth shooters had bullets I was looking for today. First mailorder bullets I've been able to get in a year. I am optimistic....

I'm not sure yet. From an OEM perspective, all my Remmington primer backorders have been canceled.

3 new Primer factories are being built as we speak. All from the mainstream ammo makers

Saw SPP pop up on Powder Valley about an hour ago. No idea how long it was on the site although I do know it wasn't for long. OoS before I could purchase.
    1k brick of CCI's for $50.

I was talking with a friend just yesterday about components and prices.

I told him I expect standard price for primers to be $50-60/k by the time shelves are fully stocked again.

I hope I'm not too light on that estimate.

This must be regional cause in my neck of the woods (Northeast) shelves are still empty. I also find online pretty bare too. I would imagine the midwest/west to get supplies first since the shooting community is much larger. Can't find a Scheels anywhere east of Indiana.

Seems about right. Maybe at times when there's a super glut we might see them in the $34 to $39 per k range. Doubt it will ever go back to $24 though.

with the surplus Primers coming from 3 new Primer factory from well funded Ammo companies. I predict $20/1,000 ... everyone just chill & wait!

let the Gun Show Primers loophole people sit on their $300 primer bricks

Says who to the three new factories? I’m sure we’ve heard to the contrary including by the CEO of Vista.

Not sure that selling primers is a concern of theirs since its a sellers market in ammo, why sell to a competitor. I would think all the primers are going to their ammo unless primers are much quicker to make than ammo. Even with remington in the game everybody is so far behind it will take time.

I herd him talking about not building new ammunition plants and this may be a splitting hairs thing. Adding additional primer capacity might be a smart move considering that people will over buy for a while after this thing is over. I'm guessing people on here will have at least 20-50k before they stop. That's a lot of forward production. They are small and dont take up.much space unless you buy federal... I hate their packaging but that's a different debate.

There are those who had more than that before this started. I distinctly remember a member here urging readers to buy up primers back in early 2020.

IIRC, he stated "...without a primer, nothing goes bang..."

    I'm just saying.

I for one am borrowing your truck to carry my first primer purchase when they’re available.

Funny... I started with CCI and ran through thousands of them because they were readily available at Cabela's. Then Found some Remington and thought "Hey, That's a nice small box". Then last summer got some Federal primers. Whoa? It's like storing boxes of copy paper in the shop. I'm going to load those first to make room on my shelf!

Now that Remington is up and running again, they should be able to flood their ammo into the supply stream. Scalpers will have a hard time buying it all up and normal guys should be able to start finding ammo on the shelves. Once this starts happening, Gunbroker ammo prices should implode and their profits will go into the toilet. After that happens, availability of all things ammo should come back fairly quickly.
