So, Pohill and madcratebuilder -

Can I correctly presume that you see no problem with displaying a picture that violates the safety rule about never pointing a gun at something you don't intend to shoot?

Further, you see no problem with sending a message to young or new shooters that it's ok to selectively follow the safety rules - like, 'Always assume a gun is loaded' and, "Never point a gun at anything you don't intend to shoot" only need to be followed sometimes? Do I understand that correctly?

Finally, I understand you have no problem with people pointing guns at you; it's happened many times and you're tough enough to take it. But please have a little compassion - there are people who have been permanently traumatized by such an experience. I hope it isn't too much to ask that you have some consideration for them. The picture was not necessary and it did cause a significant amount of mental anguish to someone who innocently came across it.

If I can't ask you to observe the safety rules at all times, or to help teach youngsters and newbies that they're serious rules, can I at least ask for some consideration for others feelings?

Wow. Yeah, I think it's just fine and dandy to have a loaded gun pointed at me. Fine and dandy.
If pics of guns bother you, stay away from gun forums, because...yep, you guessed it...you might see a pic of a gun from an angle that is not PC.
I got stabbed with a screwdriver while trying to stop a car thief but guess what? Not only can I look at a pic of a screwdriver, but I even USE them.
Actually, that scary pic WAS necessary - I find pics like that very theraputic to help me get over the trauma of having a gun pointed at me.
Give me a friggin' beak.
As far as pointing a gun at someting you don't intend to shoot - do you ever dry-fire a gun? And maybe that scary pic was taken with the camera on a timer, and there was no one else in the room.
I suggest the postings and content of pics be regulated by the forum Moderators, in writing beforehand. Afterall, we are a Constitutional Republic, governed by laws, not whims.

SG, when did you get those engraved NMA's? Those are NICE, you been holding out on me!
I think you should rust blue your Century, it's crying out for some color. I got the timing straight on mine. I need a new hand, the spring is weak and the cylinder rattles a bit in half cock.

Got the first Santa barbara early 2008 and the full engraved one late summer 2008. They were posted around...in Voy there were some ill but faded comments exchanged about the quality of them. And I quit talkin' on them. I got two and know that the quality and metal are equal to that of the German made Remingtons...Western European Olympic stlye shooters seek these over the German made Revs but the last one manufacture at the was at the E.N. Santa Barbara Arsenal in Spain was some 28 years ago or longer.
Pretty high Euro value also.
Here ya go MCB...

Thanks Smokin Gun! The Pietta is my favorite but it needs a new hand and spring assembly. Did those Remingtons of yours come engraved? I use to work for Cabelas and one of my colleagues was an engraver on the side. He would buy (with the generous employee discount) Pietta Remingtons to practice on. He always told me to buy a Pietta and he would engrave it in exchange for one of my knives. Of course like a dummy I never took him up on his offer. He moved to a new store out west amongst the real cowboys.:banghead:

Yes Messerist there were engraved at the Santa Barbara Arsenal some at least 28 years ago.
Did you ever keep in touch with your friend at Cabelas? Or was this long ago and far away?

Thanks SG.

They both defiantly look the business. Love the engraving on both cylinders and especially on the barrel.

Nice grain on the grips too.

Smokin Gun, The colleague I worked with at Cabelas is out in Utah now. His first name was Glenn and he said his work has been published in several gun rags. Sorry but that is all I remember.

Here's some action shots of me and my 1861 Uberti Navy.

Hi Tomahawk

Nice pic with the sun over your shoulder. What charge are you using? – your hand is very steady after the discharge ... very impressed!

Thanks, glad you guys like the pics.

I'm using 17.5 grains of 777 fffg, which I believe equates to 20 grains of real black powder. I'm using lubed wads and .375 lead balls.

ok here are all my guns cept for my sliders and I know My walker aint in the pic either but my son has it out hog hunting today. And the 1851 is kind of takin apart because i was using parts for the 1851 4.5 inch barrel for fitting reasons.

Hey Tomahawk;

That's nice pics. How does an 1861 'feel' compared to an 1860 .44cal? Never handled one of those.
