Armscor M202, not as fancy as some of the pistols some of you have but its always worked well for me, its the one I keep in the sock drawer.

Left to right, that's my brand-new no-lock S&W 642 Airweight (don't be envious! buy one from Jet Guns!); my WWII-era Enfield No. 2; my S&W 64 police trade-in.

All DAO, all 38s, all laughably inexpensive (under $400, under $200, and under $300, respectively).

(Nice looking photography on this thread ... didn't think I'd seen an Armscor looking that polished!)

Yup, got it for $180 too. All steel construction and hasn't had any problems yet.

P.S. I really like that Enfield and have thought about getting one myself, is it a sturdy gun thats good for the money? There's one in a local store but its quite a bit more did you buy it a long time ago or recently?

Enfield, .38-200

I see a couple of Enfields at Gunbroker, but they're closer to $300.

I love my Enfield - solid and easy to shoot. My wife says the trigger is much better on the 64 than on the Enfield, but I don't notice much difference.

If the ammo were readily available, I'd say they are a great deal for home defense or for IDPA / ICORE. Nobody makes the original loading (.38-200 is a .38 S&W with a 200-grain bullet), and lighter .38 S&W loads cost an arm and a leg. If you're a handloader, I'd say absolutely grab one for $250 or $300 if it looks good. Ordinary .38 Special ammo won't work and I'm 98% sure you can't convert the spent brass by trimming (the widths are too different), but you CAN use .38 Special bullets (0.357") with reasonable accuracy in the Enfield barrels (which are designed only slightly fatter bullets). The handloaded .38 S&W ammo should be no more expensive than .38 Special.

My recently re-acquired 686-4. I sold this gun just a few months after I bought it May 1, 2004 in order to cover unexpected medical expenses. The fellow who bought it told me I could buy it back whenever I wanted. Since he is selling off his firearms I decided to get it back. Interestingly, I bought it back from him Sunday, May 1, seven years to the day of the original purchase. The grips are cherry wood with S&W medallions made by Ajax.

You guys are killin' me. You don't know it but I have just bought a second revolver in two weeks just because of this thread.

The bad part is is that I am cruising GB and Auction Arms for a third gun. I have a terrible life. (sigh)
