RIA 9mm 1911?

I got mine yesterday, after swapping out the crappy wooden grips for some Pachmayrs it is a superb gun, accurate enough for plinking and defense, it fed value Winchester White Box almost perfectly with one failure to eject that I blame primarily on an issue with the way the magazine was loaded (tip: don't let your friend who has little firearms experience load your mags for you because he "wants to figure it out himself"). I am fairly recoil sensitive but the gun was a joy to shoot, as it should be considering its weight in relation to its mild caliber.

Edit: Also, the trigger is surprisingly excellent, sloppier than a high end M1911 of course, but it breaks at maybe, 2.5-3.0 pounds and feels a darn sight better than most SA/DA autoloader triggers, including my CZs, even in single action.

I've had mine for a few months. I have about 700 rounds through it and love it. I would go for the tactical model if I had to do it over again...but I like the GI fine.

I bought the 1911 A1 GI several weeks ago on a whim. I was looking for a "beater" to keep in the car instead of lugging around my Colts. I field stripped it, soaked it in paint thinner, re-oiled, assembled, and put a set of Pachmyar grips on it. Then I took it out to the range and shot the snot out of it. The performance was flawless and the accuracy was surprising.

Where else are you going to find an all steel, reliable, GI clone for $400? It's kind of like having an ugly girlfriend. It ain't pretty but it serves its purpose quite well.
