You know, it's not like i'm trying to find these... They just pop up here and there.

The only way this guy has $2500 invested in this gun is if he stuffed it with $500 bills. Which is strange because I've seen his other items and he seems like a stand-up guy.

I don't know, Shmackey... the gun does have a fixed full-length sight rib mounted on the slide, and if it's been through a full-house Wilson customization for competitive shooting, it's not badly priced at all. I frequently visit Clark Custom Guns, and their competition conversions, similar to the one shown in the picture, cost between $2K and $3K new, and sell used for two-thirds to three-quarters of that price. Since you can "buy this one now" for less than $1,500, that doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

Isn't this the same gun that someone asked about on the 1911 forums back in Dec.? He was buying it as his first 1911 purchase, and everyone on the board told him to back out of the deal. The seller signed onto the forum with a bad attitude towards everyones advise. I realy cannot blame him, since the guy did a buy it now. But from what I remember, the purchaser that backed out of the deal gave him the $40 the auction cost him.

I know what you mean, but pretty much every other visible part on that gun is stock. There's only so much invisible inside magic that one can do with all those stock parts.

The hammer and chamber were jeweled, that's not stock. That trigger isn't a stock piece. When did Colt start putting magazine wells on their guns? Do you have other examples of that magazine that came stock with another Colt you've bought in the past?

When Bill Wilson was still building race guns, $2500 was easily spent getting whatever was wanted.

Don't get your panties bunched because of the asking price, it's not like you have to bid on the gun.

If I am not mistaken, that Wilson gun was the subject of a recent thread over on the 1911 forum in which some guy had bid on the piece, won the auction, and then reneged on the deal.
