I wanted a way for prospective on line buyers to see the condition of the rifle bore. Still photography seemed to require equipment and skills beyond me and a professional bore scope is too expensive.

I found an endoscope camera for sale on line which seems to fit my needs. It doesn't give a microscope view of the bore but does give as good a view as looking down the barrel with a light in the chamber. The video is available here: .

As a prospective buyer would you consider this video useful?

With nothing to compare it to, it means nothing to me.
If I have seen a good bore, and a bad one, I would have a reference.
It looks rough in the video, but I don't know how much it zoomed in, or if it's pixelation.

If a barrel was in very bad condition, the video would be good enough to turn a prospective buyer away.
As to whether the video can prove that a barrel is in really good condition, I am not so sure. I have seen very good bore scope videos on Youtube where you can analyse the rifling (because they have a 90 degree mirror), but those scopes are much more expensive.

I put some videos up from one of these awhile back. Look at the m1903 bore if you want to see what a rust pitted bore looks like. It's nasty . But somehow it still shoots straight.

Actually this endoscope does have a 90 deg mirror attachment but it won't fit into a .223 bore with the mirror mounted. Maybe I will try it in a .308 to see how it works.

Thanks to all for the feedback.
