7mm Mauser. I don't even own a 7mm Mauser.
Ohh, you don't know what you're missing.

The 300wsm is the best all around NA cartridge. I may want a bigger hammer for the big bears, but it will do it.8mm Rem Mag - unloved but by all accounts perfect for the largest game we hunt in the US.
270 Win - essentially surpassed by so many calibers. Its popularity is grandfathered in. Still love it.
300 WSM - probably be around forever but in slow decline. If you need a 300 Mag you should really go with the Win Mag. I am still fascinated by it.
Note, I don't own any of the three but intend on acquiring a 270 at some point. Probably never own the 8mm or 300 WSM. I still hope they stick around in perpetuity.
Get one. It’s an awesome round. And if you reload, I’ve got a pretty cool trick I figured out that’s super simple for shooting heavier bullets like 300gr Sierra FP’s with a cannelure (my go to bullet in 444).4570 is my favorite, I'm looking at a 444 for unknown reasons as well

Does the wind push it around much at that distance?I've become quite fond of 17 hmr. Fun little cartridge past 200 yards.
I do reload and enjoy reloading 4570s and 44s the most. The only reason I even got a single shot 4570 is so that I could try to blow it up with hot loads rather than ruining my lever action. So far so good but a lot of bruised shoulder.Get one. It’s an awesome round. I hear it is a pretty darn good round30 Remington AR, that poor bastard of a cartridge sums up 204 years of the former Remington Arms Company (RIP), and no other rational reason to like it...
You can certainly bruise your shoulder with 45-70. Especially in a single shot like a Ruger No.1. When you get a 444, take your brass and trim it to LeverEvolution length. You can now load 300gr Sierra’s, crimp on the cannelure, and it doesn’t affect powder capacity for any powder but especially for H-4198 (hint hint). The hogs in my avatar were all bang flops with 1 shot each from my 444 using this load.I do reload and enjoy reloading 4570s and 44s the most. Yes. All you have to do for the 300gr Sierra’s is trim to LeverEvolution length. Perfect fit.Is the trick trimming back the brass till the bullets will seat at the right OAL? I do love me some 444. I really think if they had done a better job from the outset at designing a bullet for it we would have never gotten the resurgence of 45/70. 444 is the better all around cartridge IMO
Nice Hogs. We used to catch them alive with ropes and dogs when I was younger probably 25 years ago but stupidly dangerous. My brother in law just took some with his 35 Remington. How far out were you when you took those? You can certainly bruise your shoulder with 45-70. Especially in a single shot like a Ruger No.1.
