Most of us gun nuts have a love for many different types of rifles and the cartridges used in them. Many of these combinations just go together. If someone mentions 30-30 or 32 special I automatically think of the model 94. Mention the M1 it's the 30-06 government. Not that you can't have the rifles in different cartridges or the cartridges in different rifles somethings just go together.

List some of your go togethers!!

My first thoughts were of the Winchester Model 70 and the 270 Winchester cartridge. Maybe a Savage 340 and the 22 Hornet. And of course the Sharps and the 50-70 or 50-90.

Mosin Nagant and 7.62x54R. The 10/22 and 22 Rimfire. The AR15/M16/M4 and 5.56. The 1911A1 and 45 ACP. We can go on for quite a while.

Although not a rifle, Colt SAA and .45 LC. They go hand in glove.

When i think 222 Remington i think of my Remington 722. So many twos!

My sporterized 1917 Gew 98 is in 30-06. Many a mauser was converted to '06 and 257 Bob back in the 50s. Though i do love the 7 and 8 mm mauser rounds too.

I think of 30-30 with the Winchester 94. A more common and useful cartridge where I grew up.

7.62x39 reminds me of an SKS.

    .30 Carbine, well that's a no brainer.

    .30-40 is a Krag.

    6.5x55 is a Swedish Mauser.

    1. Sort of a "hand-held rifle" - a 14" Remington XP-100 and the 7mm IHMSA cartridge.
    2. Of course the Ruger 10-22 and the .22LR. I mean shoot, "22" is part of the name of the rifle.
    3. A rifle with a Mannlicher style stock and the 7mm Mauser cartridge. :)

Good point. My Model 100 Winchester chambered in .308 Winchester was my first big game rifle (60 years ago), and it was just like Dad's.
Later on, Dad got himself another Model 100 chambered in .243 Winchester. I never did warm up to that rifle, and I guess Dad never did either - because he went back to his old "three-oh-eight" after a few years.

British 303 and Enfield. My brother customized several in the 1950's.
