Most guns that will fire S, L & LR will suffer some feeding jams with shorts. Nature of the beast. I have a Marlin 39, Marlin 81g and Remington 552. All will fire shorts, all will occasionally jam when using shorts.

The only gun I have that cycles shorts flawlessly is a Remington model 24 that is specifically chambered for shorts. ANd a wonderful little squirrel killer it is.

Rifle that will shoot .22 short, long and long rifle interchangably

I have an old Winchester model 190 semiautomatic that will shoot any mixture of short, long and long rifle.

I have never loaded or tried to load my Rem 541-S or -T magazines with shorts or longs

They will feed shorts just fine ;)

Oddly enough, I bought my son a Savage Cub last year and the manual said that any .22 ammo could be used. I was in a shop a month or so later and noticed that they had the same rifle that had a barrel stamp stating ".22Long Rifle only." I asked the shop owner about it and he was at a loss to explain the reasoning for it.

This thread is a great place to discuss pump action .22s. Indeed, the pumps that have been discussed here will fire those cartridges just fine. As a sad historical note, Remington is the last American firearms manufacturer to offer a pump .22. Still, these guns are great fun for accurate plinking. In fact, the first firearm I shot was an antique Winchester Model 06. It was a great little shooter.

Pretty sure Henry is a US company tim.

I stand corrected on the Henry pump. Let me rephrase myself and say that Remington makes one of the finest American pumps on the market today.:D Actually, both the Remmy pump and their 552 semi-auto are heralds from a past era, although I am they are still in production.

On the Henry pump, I had one and like an idiot, I sold it in a money crunch - it was very accurate and fed everything except Aguila Colibris. Now they don't appear to still make the model I had, the 18.5" regular/round bbl - so shoulda kept it.
