I have a Bushnell 4200 6-24X40 scope that I have been trying to mount. At first I bought Leupold PWR low rings 54144 1" rings. These were to small in diameter. Then I bought Leupold QRW 30mm low rings 49861. These are too big! So now I have two sets of rings, neither of which work with this scope. The diameter of the tube on the scope measures 1.006" OD. So instead of shimming, I'd just like to find the correct rings so I can mount this on my M25 with picatinny rail. Any suggestions?

If the top half of the rings extends lower than the centerline of the scope tube as it does on the PRW rings slip a piece of thin, slick paper (backing paper from stick on labels works well) between the scope tube and the inside of the ring and push the ring down over the scope tube. That will allow the ring to slide over the tube without scratching the tube. It's what needs to be done with that type of ring.

The other alternative is to buy another set of 1" rings that have the caps split horizontally so that they don't extend below the centerline of the scope tube.

I would go with a set of Warne Rings and their weaver style steel bases. That set up worked fine with my Bushnell 3200

Larry, thanx for the advice! I just bowed the rings out and pressed them on. It didn't even leave a mark!
Cheers!
