RMR's own line of Thick Plated bullets

I apologize if I missed it in this thread, but is there anything in the works for 38spl/357mag offerings? Say, 125gr FP, or 158gr?

Quick question for you guys. Would anyone like to see a 180 grain 40 with a similar profile to the 45 230? It would have the really long body and a very blunt round nose. Essentially it will have a TON more bearing surface than the current offering.

I would buy some of those.

I'd also like to see a .44 Spl/Mag similar bullet, or WFN or a wide SWC. I have to admit, I can't imagine that you'd sell those in anything like the volume that the auto pistol bullets would move. I like to shoot as many .44s as anything else, but I'm a low-volume shooter compared to most people here.

Same here, .357 mag is my main shooting caliber. it would be nice to be able to practice with hot loads with out using jacketed bullets.

I'm a patient man, I'll wait. I did get the thick plated seconds from LDJ in .357mag and am anxious to try them out but we have AIB (food and drug) inspection tomorrow and leave for Wisconson Tuesday night for the rest of the week to look at new printing presses so that isn't going to happen soon.

When I get back and get some time, I am going into full testing mode for these bullets and hope to be able to post some results. The will at least give me some idea of what better ones, like Jake's own brand, will perform like.

High expectations here. I'm particularly interested to see if they copper up my barrel at around 1450fps. If they do I stick to jacketed for practicing at this speed.

sometime next month we will be getting 147 grain 9mm and 124 grain flat point 9mm.
Great. Look forward to testing your new line of thick plated bullets with chrono data starting next month. Can't wait to get the Just Right carbine and do some 17" barrel load testing in 9mm/40S&W/45ACP with caliber conversion kits.

We are actually getting some 158 and 125 grain .357, and 44 mag from a different company. They will be a very high quality bullet but they won't have the same look.

Quick update. The 125 and 158 grain 357 along with some 44 mag and 200 grain RN 45 are coming early in the first week of December.

Dang it!! I have placed a few orders with RMR including 1000 Heavy Plate 180gr RNFP an hour ago..This thread reminded me that I forgot to ask for my discount!! Owell, hope the bullets are nice...Oh, anyone have any loads for the above bullets with a 10mm and longshot?..

RMR TP in 1911 ??

I've been looking for a better shooting 180grn bullet for 10mm. I've had quite a few issues with the 180 Berry FP climbing the feed ramp on a DW 1911. I'm set to buy into the RMR 124grn for my 9, but before placing an order wanted to know if anyone had tried these blunter nose 40 cal bullets in a 1911 and what the feeding situation was like.

Not new to reloading, but I am new to the 1911. Just based on limited experience and looking at the blunt nose, I'd say they wouldn't feed well at all, but on the other hand I crave the promise of added accuracy.

Any insights would be highly appreciated. ;)

rfwobbly, PM me and I will send you some samples of 180 gr RNFP. This way you can be sure they feed reliably before you buy them.

rfwobbly, 40S&W/10mm 180 gr Thick Plated RNFP will go out as soon as I unpack and locate them.

Not sure what OAL/COL will work for your 10mm 1911 but I would start with the max length that will fit in the magazine and freely fully chamber in the barrel then incrementally decrease the length until they reliably feed/chamber from the magazine when the slide is released.

For my 40S&W Glocks with factory and Lone Wolf barrels, I started with 1.165" and ended up with 1.155" as my working OAL/COL. Yes, they are longer than SAAMI max length of 1.135" but many match shooters use longer than SAAMI length for greater accuracy and reliability of feeding/chambering - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=9341657
Determining max/working OAL/COL:

Due to the nose profile/ogive of the bullet, Glock magazine max length of 1.165" dropped in the Lone Wolf and Glock 40S&W chambers freely with a "plonk" and spun without hitting the start of rifling. Taper crimp used was .421".

However, 1.165" dummy rounds got stuck in the magazine tube when I loaded 3 rounds. While 1.160" dummy rounds fed and chambered from the magazine even in tight chambered Lone Wolf barrels, 1.155" was decided as the final working OAL to compensate for variations in resized mixed range brass lengths.

We finally got some .357, 44 mag, and 200 grain 45's in that you guys have been asking for. They are a different style but great quality nonetheless.
