From Monday's paper...

"A would-be robber who tried to hold up a Chinese restaurant in Laurel last night was killed by an employee who pulled his own weapon and fataly shot him, police said.

Police received a call about 9:30 p.m. concerning a robbery in progress at the oriental Express restaurant at 14713 Baltimore Ave., said Cpl. Tammy Sparkman, a Prince George's County police spokeswoman.

Police said a man had pulled out a gun, grabbed a worker and demanded money. While he held the worker at gunpoint, another employee came out from the kitchen area with a gun and fatally shot the suspect. No one else was injured, Sparkman said.

Police were still on the scene late last night and did not know the identity of the shooting victim, Sparkman said. There were no customers in the restaurant during the shooting, she said.

I am sick unto death of lazy, cliche journalism.

I love the way the WaPo treats happy endings like this one the same as murders and suicides with their coverage. There was a time in America when the headline for this article would be something along the lines of "Chinese Chef Saves Day" or "Thief Killed". Now that moral relativism has taken up refuge in journalism schools, newspapers are more worried about offending the relatives of some dead dirtbag than accurately protraying what happened.

How about "Police arrived to provide councellors for the victims of the robbery attempt and to remove the dead robber from the dumpster. Shooter was cited for unlawful dumping, but no fine levied".

Did anyone else notice that the article refered to the BG as a "shooting victim"? It's a wonder that they didn't call it a cold blooded killing:cuss: :fire:

another wonderfull spin

That headline should read-

Robbery attemps ends in Violent Criminal being fatally shot in defense of bussiness

Ohh wait..that would be the truth!

ever wonder why they are called Jounarlists and not Reporters anymore?
