Romanian WASR 10 front sight.

Hello all.

I picked up a WASR 10 pretty cheap. I am awaiting it's arrival.

Now I have read the problems with the WASR 10 (canted sight, canted gas block, sticking bolt) and how those are applicable to older rifles.

How does one adjust the front sight on a WASR 10? I Googled the subject and while there are a lot of sites that talk about the problem not too much on how to fix the problem.

First, you need to diagnose that it has a problem that needs fixing.

All Kalashnikovs have some degree of cant along their sight lines. The problem arises when one of the parts is canted so that you can't sight it in.

If you have a problem with cant, here are some options:

Does the tool that adjusts as SKS front sight also adjust a WASR 10 front sight?

They are like $9 off the net.

Also if your bolt sticks is that just something that will correct itself as the rifle wears in?

Its only a problem if you are buying sight unseen and have to take what they give you. All you have to do is shoulder the gun and look to see if its cockeyed or not, and don't buy the bad ones!

AK/SKS front sight sight adjustment tools seem the same to me, I've only one, can't recall if I got it for SKS or AK, but its worked for both. Its got a C-Clamp like arrangement with a hole it it for windage and a notch in the T-handle for the elevation adjustments of the front post.

The "sticky bolt syndrome" only occurs when the operator babies the rifle. If you always pull the bolt carrier to it's full rearward position and then let it go, you'll not have this issue.

It is a symptom of the brand new US made FCG that has been installed.

It will never 'stick' if you don't baby it, and after you shoot it a while, the 'stickyness' will go away.

It is too.....Every AK Dunhams had on the rack, had a canted frt sight. Not to mention the wag wobble that the hogged out single stack guns have

But.....They still shoot good

Again,"mag wobble" is common to all Kalashnikovs to some degree.

The "problematic mag wobble" (i.e. when one should whine on the internet about it) is when it wobbles so much, the gun malfunctions.

Anything other than that, is just cosmetics.

When the proper dimples are present, like on other model AKs, the mags are fine. At todays inflated AK prices, the WASR10s are just not a value anymore. The crap AKs Dunhams sell, are just too crude for me, but like I said, they still go boom

This is another myth.

Dimples are present to strengthen the receiver. They have nothing to do with the magazine.

I'm not just bashing them without owning one, or just going on whats on the internet. I owned one, straightened one frt sight base, and seen firsthand what a POS Century puts out. There are better samples out there, but at $500 plus dollars, you sure don't get what you used to get. AR15 prices have come back to earth, since the Gun Grabber scare, AKs on the other hand, have priced themselfes out of "MY" market. But they still shoot

Actually, the WASRs utilize the same receiver-strengthening methods that are used in the RPK-74 and Saiga rifles. This involves two steel plates welded to the inside of the receiver.
