I got a Rossi 511 .22 revolver. cute little gun. I want to get some ammo with a bit of punch to it. I'm thinking either the 40GR subsonic hollow point or the 60gr subsonic round. I hear there are some twist issues with the 60GR ammo and that it gets the barrel and chamber pretty dirty. Someone please advise the best ammo for my Rossi 511 .22 revolver with 4" barrel. Would the 40GR subsonic hollow point or the 60GR subsonic rounds be alright to shoot from this gun.

With me, it's about accuracy with the Rossi. If I want more punch, I pick up a .38 or something. My 511 shoots Federal Lightening into 2" at 25 yards off the bench. It'll do 1" groups at that range with RWS Target. I shoot mostly Federal in it because it's cheap and effective for plinking or hunting. I keep a few boxes of RWS around for the occasional informal competition if I really wanna get serious. 
Any ammo in .22LR will be safe to shoot, but whether it'll be accurate is a job for the shooting bench.

any 22LR rimfire ammo will do fine
(but not WMR, or WRF)
for a little bit more punch, many would opt for the CCI Mini-Mag HV (22LR) 40gr Stinger
sub-sonic stuff is oft more prone to yield good accuracy/consistency, but not best punch

The Rossi 511 Sportsman was the BEST Rossi IMHO. I had one stolen, found another at a gun show used and snatched it up. Very accurate, reliable, well made guns and all stainless. The firing pin is wide and I NEVER get a misfire even with the cheap stuff that my Ruger Md2 sometimes misfires on. Rossi really should bring this one back. It was a great alternative to the high dollar stainless kit guns. Mine eats a bulk pack every couple of months. I always take it to the range with me for some plinking.

I have one and all the Rossi pistols I've bought are way better than the Taurus. I had some guns stolen, one of which was a S&W 63 "Kit Gun." I got the insurance money and bought two Rossi 511s. And I liked them just as much! I have a .22LR (gave one away recently) and a .38 Spc.

That 88 is an early/mid 80s, I think, judging by the rear sight. I have an old 68 bought in 1981 for my step dad so that I could get my grandpa's M10 S&W back from him. He passed on a few years back and I have the 68, now. GREAT little firearm. I won't claim it better than my Taurus 85SSUL, though. That little toot is a great shooter, light, and has the best DA trigger I've ever felt out of the box. I sold my 88 when I got the 85SSUL and never looked back.

I'm kinda curious on the OP, why "the most punch"? In .22, I worry about the most accurate.

I was on the hunt for a Rossi 511 and/or 515 for several years there, but never found a good deal for me. Not a lot of them seen in the wild nowadays.
Finally had to give it up and "settle" for a pricier S&W 4" pair (both older vintage, 63 and 651), and extremely pleased with 'em. But to this day, if I stumbled across a 511/515, I couldn't just walk on by either one.
Now there's a pretty good answer to just a little more punch for your small frame 22 rimfire. 22WMR. If you run into the 515 companion for your 511, pause, ponder,and give it a real good look. Just because. They sure are a hoot to shoot !

The ammo you mentioned will indeed shoot out of your revolver but as others have said accuracy may be a problem. As with most any gun, buy yourself a few boxes of different brands and weights and keep notes and have fun figuring which shoots best.
If you are looking for pure speed you will likely end up shooting lighter slugs, I prefer heavy for caliber rounds in all my handguns no matter the caliber, I like the penetration that comes with big lead.....
