I know Rossi is owned by Taurus, but is the Rossi Snub nose 38's Frame the same as the Taurus Model 85's Frame?

The reason I am asking is because I ordered Hogue Hardwood grips for my Taurus model 905 (same frame as 85) and my friend really likes them (see below).

If the Rossi is the same frame then I am going to order the grips for my friend's Rossi as a birthday gift.

I don't know about the Rossi, but those grips are beautiful and would look sweet on my blued 905 as well!!

How much did those grips set you back, if you don't mind my boldness??

Taurus owns Rossi *now*, but Rossi was an independent company for a long time.

Speaking generically, I would not expect grips for a Taurus 85 to fit a Rossi.

No. The Rossi is more or less a Smith and Wesson M36 knock off. The Taurus is a totally different gun. You might could FIT a Rossi grip to the Taurus, but even then, there's a hole in the left side of the frame that a proper Taurus grip covers, there for the machine operations, holds the frame in place with a jag of some kind. The Rossi doesn't have this hole.

Anyway, no, they won't interchange.
