Can anyone tell me what Smith & Wesson frame fits the Rossi R 971 - we can't get the speed loader to work as it is and want to find slimmer grips.

ok, thank you for your reply, now, just make sure we are on the same page - we already have the speedloader - the grips that came on the gun are too fat and the speedloader will not go in - so, we are trying to find slimmer grips. Is the S&W 'K' frame the one we need to look for?
 
No, while a Rossi 971 will use speedloaders for a Smith K frame, the grips from a Smith will not fit a Rossi.

Pachmayr makes their compact grips for Rossi's.

Rossi pretty much uses the same grip frame for all their 6 shot revolvers.
