Of the three, I'd take Barack Obama, based pretty much on one "yes" vote of his:

Vote to pass an amendment prohibiting the use of any funds appropriated in the FY2007 Department of Homeland Security Act from being used to confiscate legal firearms during states of emergency or major disasters. (Sec. 540)

He voted yes, and all of our favorite anti-gunners (senators from NY, NJ, CA, MD, MA, and the senior senator from IL) voted no.

Dont base anything on this one vote, he knew it would be a landslide and therefore his vote wouldn't matter, we would still get a little less gun control in our lives. That was just his "see I don't always vote against gun owners." When he was in Illinois he was a constant pro-gun control, yes sir Mayor Daley we don't want any guns in our state. In fact I have a picture from the local paper showing him and Daley supporting each others ideals. Jim.

Writing in Ron Paul if he doesn't have a checkbox next to his name is EXACTLY what I plan on doing.

Biker - I don't care who you are, THAT'S FUNNY!!!

By the looks of things...

Unless the lineup changes drastically, I'm writing in my vote,

for Homer Simpson. :banghead:

Dont get worried just yet. This forum is full of doom and gloomers.

It's still way early. How many times has the 'front runner' got his ass kicked when the real fight started? Remember Howard Dean in 04 (God now I wish it was him in Obama's place, at least hes an NRA "A") ? When people realized they didnt want a mountain man liberal like Dean, he was gone and we got the formally 'darkhorse' Kerry.

Richardson I have hoped for since the start, hes a moderate on everything, our only hispanic governor, and pro-gun. He was well liked in NM, I still dont see Rudy doing much on guns, as I said in another thread, he knows what will happen. Basically, the Rudy mayor vs the Rudy president will be different people, or so he wants us to think. I dont buy it, but you people who think hed be worse than the communists the D are putting up? Youre crazy.

Remember there are more than just 2 Republicans. I havent heard any of you mention McCain, but its still too early to tell on him either. Who else is running? Romney is a joke, your typical liberal in a mask.

Remember too that at this stage of the game, a LOT of it is basically just based upon name recognition. People had heard of Hillary. They'd heard of Obama, just because of the publicity surrounding his election. And they'd heard of Rudy. McCain is also someone they remember - the rest of the crew are still trying to get visible.

Remember Clinton's first election? NOBODY was going anywhere. NOBODY. And then Clinton had a bimbo alert, following up on another politician's problems of the same sort, and the public was tired of it, and ready for high-profile forgiveness. If it hadn't been for Genifer Flowers, Clinton likely wouldn't have seen office.

well according to CNN, Baracks ancestors owned slaves..sounds like hilary is digging up dirt(useless lol) because i know none of her kin where ever slave owners

Amadou Diallo and Patrick Dorismond would tell you different... if they weren't dead.

Of the three, for gun owners, I think it comes down to who's signature looks uglier on gun ban legislation, Hilliary's, Rudy's or Barack's.:D

Guys, think about this...

Hillary and Rudy are POLITICIANS first... If they know something will cost them re-election, or will cost their party, they won't do it. I think that makes them safer (can't believe I just said that about Hillary). Rudy was likely very FOR gun control in New York because, well, it's New York. If he was running for office in Wyoming, he'd likely be against it. I think that makes him safer than Hillary.

Obama, on the other hand, may do a lot of stuff just because he thinks it's the thing to do. I don't like loose cannons.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If the election comes down to McCain or Romney or Rudy vs anyone the Democrats run, I'm voting for f***in Mickey Mouse! :cuss:

The rodent may seem to be a viable candidate, but at this point, I'd go for the lesser of two evils (as I usually do). I'm going to vote for who I think will do the least damage, who actually has a chance of getting elected. Otherwise, why bother?

Actually, the "anyone but a Republican" strategy has worked quite well for the Democrats - expect them to continue it for the coming race.

Nope, Rudy was a Law and Order prosecuter first, then a politician who ran his office as though he were prosecuting the people at best or a fascist at worst. He will take America straight into a police state if he wins. What will he care about political process when he is in charge?

You're missing something - ALL prosecutors trumpet about "law and order." If he'd been running in Midland, TX, he would have had a different strategy.

HE THOUGHT OUT A STRATEGY (or likely paid people to concoct one...) TO GET HIM ELECTED IN NEW YORK CITY.

In New York, pushing gun control is seen as being "tough on crime." And remember - NYC has had ugly gun laws since LONG before he was elected. Essentially, he enforced 'em.

It's really ironic that the Christian Right seems to hate him for cleaning up Times Square...

I'm neither christian nor right. I hate him because he used the NYPD like an occupying army. That doesn't even GET to his virulent hatred of non-politically connected gun owners.

His campaign posters ought to show a BATFE agent in full combat gear with a plunger handle in his hand. The caption should say, "Now it's YOUR turn!"

this time not giving the vote to the lesser of the two evils. Ill vote for myself as president. Atleast then I wont have to listen to the if you dont vote you cant complain people. when youre choosing between a giant ****** and a terd sandwich it doesnt seem to make much difference.

If he _hadn't_ cleaned up Times Square, and it was just as squalid as it used to be, you'd be using that against him.

I'm going to look and see who the worst candidate is, and I'll try to make sure that they're not elected.

NOBODY is going to be perfect. But I'd rather elect the guy who favors my position 51% than the guy who is 90% against me.

And read my sig.

They'd heard of Obama, just because of the publicity surrounding his election.

That's a funny statement, considering that to this day nobody knows who Keyes is.
I don't think this is quite the case with Obama. He's gotten treated with the spotlight ever since he won that election.

Obama, on the other hand, may do a lot of stuff just because he thinks it's the thing to do. I don't like loose cannons.

Sooooo.......... you do realize that a lot of us vote strictly for those who will do only the things that they think are the things to do, regardless of public sentiment, right?

It's an option. You could vote for someone who makes principled decisions. And truthfully, if Obama makes principled decisions, that makes him the top pick among the three.

NOBODY is going to be perfect. But I'd rather elect the guy who favors my position 51% than the guy who is 90% against me.
Giuliani doesn't favor MY positions 5.1%, nevermind 51%.

My positions don't include:

Hatred for the 2nd Amendment.

Allowing the NYPD to act like the Kempetai in Manila in 1942.

One MORE time, if you liked the Louima, Diallo and Dorismond atrocities, you're gonna LOVE what Rudy does with the BATFE...
