Got one.
Hate the RSI.
Am on the hunt for an Alex Henry forearm.
Maybe get lucky next big Indy 1500 gunshow.

2 days on the web, no luck yet.

Worst case, buy a blank and learn to checker.

Sell it to somebody who likes the International style. Buy what you want.

Fella's;

Yeah, what he said. And it's in what caliber?

I've never understood the caliber choices that Ruger made for the RSI. Why rounds like the .270, hampered by the shorter barrel, when the 6.5 X 55 Swede would've been ideal? Sure, everybody likes the .243 but with the short barrel you can certainly make a good argument that it should've been in either the 6mm PPC or the 6mm BR Remington. And I could go on.

900F

I bought it to rebarrel to .35 Rem.
Got it at a good price.
Clean, but wood boringly straight grained.
Red pad .243 win.

I like the old B model best, second would be the 1S in .45-70.
RSI dead last.

i go the other way, i think the AH forend is ugly, i have ruger #1,s having all three types of forends (rsi-a AH and a regular) and i think the rsi,s are the best looking. my rsi is a light weight 3006 carbine with a receiver sight. the extra wood and end cap only adds a few ounces to the rifle. eastbank.

I'm of a similar thought in regards to forends. Never cared for the "hook" shape of the A. Henry forend; first choice would be the full stock style of the RSI International. I think one of those in the current offering of 6.5x55 Swede would be just about perfection in a Ruger No.1.

i would buy a 6x55 in the #1 rsi at the right price. i have a low wall browning in .260 rem., i don,t shoot it much any more as their kind of scarce. browning on the top, a ruger #1 in 35 whelen. eastbank.

Can't shorten a B forend as the checkering pattern more fwd and would look funny.
AH length with no groove would be OK.

Like what ya like.............but me no likey RSI.........bolt, SS or even auto.
Never have like them.

Thank goodness my 10/22 is a fingergroove (and my dad's 44 also). Unfortunately they don't match as mine is checkered ;)

I had a Rem 600 in .243 I bought for my daughter, since my cuz has a cabin in rifle zone.
But she didn't want to hunt deer.
The 18.5" bbl was a bit loud.
So the RSI gets me 20".
Almost the same length as a 660 ;)

If I change the forend I might leave it in .243.............depending on how it shoots. Initial purchase reason was for rebarrel to .35 Rem.

My first .243 was a 1B back in '78.

Yeah, #1's will do that to ya!
Got to have one around, just because.

My dad had a vertical split ring 4 digit B in '06 that was mint. He let that go a long ways back. Thought the vert rings cool.

Still has his beat up B in .22-250. Old checker pattern. NIB stainless lam V model in same.
I like the look of the beat up one way better.

Idea was to rebarrel it down the road, so I could hunt my dad's gun whenever he goes. But that could be a few yrs yet and this one came along at a good price so why not redo it and hunt while he's still kickin? (he doesn't hunt but I won't take his rifle 'til he's gone- tried to give it to me- felt weird).

If I redo this one whenever I get the old one I'll just redo it in .243, keep as a B.

BTW, I still have my Bianchi double suede cobra sling from '76.
That'll be going on the RSI :)

my finger grooved ruger 44 mag. eastbank.

Just sold the last of my #1s. AH 45-70 nice gun. A true classic. Always wanted an RSI but just couldn't get there. Maybe a 308 will come along one day but never could get my head around one in 270 or 30-06.

Regardless, #1s are a bit heavy all the same. No matter what caliber or configuration they come in.
