I sure this isn't the first thread about the Ruger 1911 but I'll start a new one anyway. What's the story with this new gun? Dose anyone know much about it? Dose anyone think Ruger can make a high quality 1911 with a MSRP of only $799.00?

I feel certain Ruger can make a high quality 1911 with an MSRP of only $799....IMO, outta the box 1911's are overpriced to begin with.

Got mine today -Yee-Ha!! Looks good, its got a pretty tight slide with a nice crisp trigger. Gonna put a couple of boxes thru at lunchtime tomorrow. Seems like I read it was coming with 2 sets of grips and 2 mags. Got the mags but only the wood grips. Its not as good as a TRP for finish but its a hell of a lot cheaper for $619. I've got a Wilson magwell, night sights and ambi safety coming already.

Cabelas has it on thier website for 749 I called they said they should be in the stores last week of May or first week of June. But that price is high compared to what Mac payed.

Not really a new gun....been around for 100 years. Sorry, couldn't resist, joking. Ruger is finally getting on the bandwagon. If you want one go for it. If not there are plenty of other choices.....some better, some worse.

There are a lot of choices, but I don't think there are many better at the price point these will be at once the initial rush to get them settles down.

I'll get one when I can avoid the premium on a new model in the first few months.

Just broke the cherry on it with 100 quick rounds for lunch. 50 Blazer brass and 50 Win Ranger HP's. Shoots to POA at 10yards and feels really good. I think it needs a strip of grip tape on the front strap cuz its pretty smooth as is. No FTF/FTE's or any noticeable defects. It's a little tight and the mags need to be tapped in to be sure they lock. Good hard primer strikes and damn, I'm happy with it. Thats all! :)
