Ruger Am Ranch is just stupid loud

I have two of these and don't think they are overly loud. I have A2's on both of them more to protect the crown than anything. Having said that, if you add a linear comp please post an update. I do use these as truck guns so anything to help with the noise is welcome. I also live in a non-silencer state. I only use Golden Tiger out of mine and it shoots great! PLEASE Ruger PLEASE if you are reading this thread come out with a version with iron sights!!!!

This. Also open sights in 6.5 Grendel.

If you're trying to hunt with it I recommend buying some electronic earmuffs. I never wore hearing protection while hunting until I got my american ranch in .450 bushmaster. First shot at a deer had my ears ringing for several minutes and had me very worried it wasn't going to go away this time. I spent a little under $50 on a pair of walker electronic earmuffs and while I wouldn't wear them without plugs on a long range day they are perfect for firing a couple shots in the field without losing your hearing. Bonus is they keep your ears warm.

If it still bothers you with ear protection I'd try the compensators listed above but I have no personal experience with them.

My question as well. For a Ranch/utility/Truck gun why did they not put sights on it? Not everyone wants some kind of optic. The Minis have sights?

I'd prefer sights and will probably end up putting them on at least one of my Ruger American Ranch rifles. I already have a Skinner scout rail that has integrated sights but I'm looking for a 6.5Grendel to put it on. However, I'm in the extreme minority. Most people are mounting scopes and leaving it at that. The American is an entry level rifle and sights would only add to the cost.

Seems to me a XS Rail with integrated peep and fixing a front sight post is an easy remedy for the small minority nowadays that desire both sighting systems.

Do they make one?

I have one on my Ruger GSR, not sure about for the RARs

EDIT: doesn’t look like they have any for the American line. I’m sure it would be a good seller for them if they were to decide to design one for it.

I have the American Ranch in 7.62x39. Beside the normal complaints of no iron sights or about the plastic stock, blah blah bah, my only gripe is that it's ridiculously loud.
I have this rifle, and it is not that much louder than a 7.62x39 with a 18" barrel. The issue could be with the ammo maybe?

How does one go about "fixing a front sight post" and how much does that cost?

If it were me I would go to a sight companies website and look at their dovetailed ramps. They can either be screwed on into taps in your barrel, or sweated/brazed on. The ramp then has a dovetail on the top so one can measure the height they need with whatever rear sight they put on to get the elevation correct.

Usually just one drilled & tapped hole, maybe two.

For those that have a tap and the ability to drill and tap in the correct place. Otherwise it is off to a Gunsmith and the rifle is no longer a "bargain"
Ruger could have at least put the hole.
