Ruger American 30-06 Bolt Stop Removal

Does anyone have any advice on how to go about removing the bolt stop on a Ruger American 30-06?
The pin goes in from the bottom and fits into a pocket so driving it through is out.

Use a plastic mallet and hit the receiver. The pin will work itself out. I also have used a small magnet to pull it the rest of the way out. Press the stop with your finger to relieve the tension on the pin.
