I found a shop that has about 5 Ruger American pistols for sale. The owner says most are new, he has 2 that are marked used. I noticed they all have the silver barrel on them. I know there's a recall and Ruger is putting black barrels on them. Shouldn't new ones also have black barrels? I don't think I've seen any others since before all this virus stuff started up.
I didn't quiz the salesman too much, he's just a part-time employee. Could these be new old stock?
I also know Ruger will honor the recall at no expense to the customer. I'm very tempted. Knowing how fast guns sell now, they may be gone by the time I get off work tomorrow.

The recall only affected certain serial numbers. If the recall does apply, then Ruger will pay shipping to get the replacement barrel and/or slide. Mine was back in about 2 weeks but that was pre-covid.

Well, I went back and looked at them. All of them had the 860 prefix. They were priced as new but looked like they had been sitting around awhile. Then I noticed an SR9, stainless barrel in the case. It only came with one mag but was clean, no scratches, and was $120 less then the Americans. So, I picked it up. I had to leave it on layaway though. The NICS system was down. They couldn't get through on the phone or online. Hopefully I'll bring it home tomorrow.

If the SR9 is anything near what my SR9C is you just purchased one of the finest 9mm handguns ever designed regardless of price. I have owned a awful lot of 9MM's but none of them has impressed me more than the SR9C. It just does everything right and I mean everything.

I have a RAP9 & RAP45 both I've fired with no problems to feed, fire and eject. I'm not a Ruger person but rather S&W, but I was impressed enough with both the RAP 9 &45 to keep both examples which I have stated previously fired extensively as in thousands of rounds.

Had a .45--held on to it for a while--was gone pretty quickly after I actually shot it--meh

Nothing really wrong with it but nothing really right about it too.
