Looking for suggestions to mount a Vortex Diamondback to my RAR. I'm new to scopes and only know it requires 1" rings.

Only thing I've stumbled across in my brief research are DNZ mounts and was curious if there's anything else out there I need to look at. I'm assuming whatever's out there, I want the low mount option? I'm just using this as a range plinker but want something that I only need to buy once.

Jesse, ideally you want as much ring height as needed to place you eye in alignment with the scope once you’ve shouldered it and achieved a solid cheek weld. In the real world there are stocks of all sorts that make this an easy to Herculean task; there are bolts that make clearance an issue; there are scopes who’s physical dimensions create less than ideal rifle mates.

Some basic guidelines: leave a gap between the scope and receiver/barrel. 1/16” will work plus figure enough room for scope caps if you use them. Choose higher rings only if necessary for eye alignment.

You can mock up ring height using the scope, rifle, ruler/calipers, and modeling clay (or PlayDoh if you’ve got some) placed between scope and mounting rail. Be sure to adjust the rifle for eye relief first by setting to the highest power and looking through it. Eye relief will be shortest at the scope’s highest magnification. Then check for bolt clearance, and finally carefully measure the thickness of your clay or PlayDoh (once the latter has hardened a bit) to find the necessary ring height. Purchase the corresponding height in 1” rings that match your attachment system eg. Weaver/Picatinny.

Be sure to level the crosshairs to be perpendicular to the receiver so that your adjustments are up/down/left/right rather than up and left, up and right, or any other combination that changes both axes with either dial.

Good advice above. I'll add that personally I like the one piece mounts where both rings are mounted on an intermediary rail. It eliminates, depending on manufacturing quality, any chance of the rings being misaligned. There are tools that allow you to ensure alignment, but if it's all one piece there should be no issues.
You may find that a one piece set of rings does not allow clearance in the bolt/chamber area, so you need to watch for that.

Just wanted to update I went with the DNZ low rings and it cleared the bolt without issue. Didn't need to remove the rear William's Firesight either.

This is with a Vortex Diamondback 2-7x35.
