I recently got a Ruger Old Army and it’s been superb. Here it is:

This is how I like to carry ammo for my percussion revolvers out in the field for hunting or camping. The yellow objects are called “Dixie tubes” and are sold by Dixie Gun Works. They’re actually just neoprene pipe end caps. They can be filled with a charge of powder, a round ball pressed in, and a felt wad tops it off. Very secure and moisture resistant. Much more durable for carrying around than paper cartridges.

Six fit nicely in an Altoids mint tin, and I carry 8 percussion caps in a piece of foil. The whole package tucks away neatly into a USGI leather field dressing pouch. I’m using a crossdraw style cavalry flap holster wet molded to the ROA and it works great. These black powder revolvers can still be great field guns.

How do you load those into the cylinder?

That's a neat idea! Wish I had picked one up (ROA) when I had the chance in NH.

They’re still around. I picked this one up for a neat price on a muzzleloading forum. They are commanding amazing prices on places like Gun Broker (everything there is sky high though) but they can be had for better deals elsewhere.
