From my previous Thread, I had pics sent to me of some Estate Sale Items.
A .30 Carbine with anything other than a 7.50" Barrel had me scratching my head.
    I brought it home yesterday.
That Barrel is 12.00 Inches Long!!!

Based on the 4 Digit S/N, it appears to have been made in 1968

    Ruger Shows:

    1 - 1968
    50-00001 - 1969

I'm going to email Ruger and see if they have any additional info.

Please keep us posted, for many reasons. I would expect it to be a custom barrel, but I'm wrong all the time.

Are there any markings on the barrel?

If you aren't into it I think others here may be into it (me for example :)

I will post up when I hear back from Ruger.

Even though this is not what I was wanting, I just could not pass it up for the price.

I'm looking forward to putting some rounds through it in the next few weeks.

I'll hopefully stumble across a "carry size" at a decent price some day.

Edit: I didn't notice any barrel markings.

Looks carry size to me. Cut a hole in your front pocket. Timely drawing may be an issue.

Fine looking handgun in a useful cartridge!

That 12" barrel is going to get those .30s up to a real haul the mail speed

If you want a shorter than the usual Blackhawk .30 carbine 7.5" , to carry, you won't like it.

I am still looking for one of the 5 1/2” N frames in 30 Carbine the Army tested and found “too loud”!

Would make for a nice whitetail hunter, with some 110gr JSP Buffalo Bore.

That's about the only way I'd want a 30 carbine, longer is better and that's about perfect if you ask me.

So... What'd you pay for it? I'm dead curious.

    $300.00

It came with a Chest Rig / Holster and 5 boxes of cheap ammo.

I still need to email Ruger.

$300! what a great deal. And a chest rig and whatever ammo, just icing on the cake.

I appreciate all of the positive feedback and interest in this unique piece.
I just could not leave it behind for the price.

I am looking forward to shooting it.

If for any reason you can't be satisfied with that revolver, we require you to give us all a chance at buying it from you! $300?!!! The last decent one I saw was $900, and it didn't have a scope! It was a 9.5" barrel. You got the deal of a lifetime! Congratulations!

Diesel ain't cheap and it took a few miles there and back.

I'm going to need at least $329.47 if I decide to flip it.

However, I don't recommend staring at this thread and holding your breath.

I had been watching GB etc. You are correct. It is not uncommon to see a nice one go for $700 - $1,000 depending on condition.
Then you add CC Fees, Tax, Shipping....

I do feel very lucky running across this.

For $300 that would definitely, absolutely, without question be a project gun for me. It'd be sent off to become a minimum spec .45Colt, or something.

Mexican carry would make you really popular with the ladies.
