I stopped in Apache Rifleworks just to browse and noticed several Ruger SA revolvers in the consignment case. The staff told me a lady was liquidating her husbands collection and they had been consigned to sell over 50 handguns. They were putting out about 5 at a time. One of these was a stainless Ruger New Model Blackhawk 357 magnum priced at $675. In excellent condition, practically 100%. I told the staff member it was priced a little low but he said the lady insisted on Blue Book pricing.
They also had a nice Vaquero in 357 magnum, a Vaquero Birds Head in 45 Colt and a Bisley. All priced very reasonably. I displayed a little restraint and only left with the SS Blackhawk.
But I’ll be stopping in again in a week or 2 to see what else is offered from this fine collection.

I think Im going to update my will.... All firearms cant be sold but must be passed on to family..:)

I have that exact SS Ruger. I paid $250 for it years ago. It shoots damn good. I'd keep stopping in if I was you.

Some guys have all the luck.

I am quite partial to my 4.6" SS .357 BH

Would love to find a matching .45 with dual Cylinders

@wcwhitey - Thank you!
@45CalPal - The gentleman didn’t pass. He’s 90 and going into assisted living. The sales guy said he was authorized to negotiate some on prices, but I told him that knowing the circumstances, I’d pay the asking price.
@tominboise - Nice!
@ontarget - They showed me the list but there were so many ‘wants’ I don’t remember most of them. More Ruger SA’s, a few milsurp rifles (M1), Dan Wesson revolvers. Etc.
@Seedy Character - Trust me, I’m not usually lucky! But I also found a brick of Federal SPM Match primers yesterday as well. I’m buying a lottery ticket today.

Congratulations!

Is the place dog-friendly? That is too far to drive, without having to bring my two little buddies, who are Road Scholars. I have been wanting to drive through that area, along scenic byways, for a while, anyway.

Just outside San Antonio. Ruger single actions have really gone up in value over the last few years and I don't think the valuation books have caught up on them. I bet the husband, or someone else, gave the wife guidance on using the blue book pricing to avoid being taken advantage of. My step father-in-law is 90, he's been selling and giving away his firearms and other stuff for the last few years. It's gotten to where you can't visit w/o being offered a variety of items.

Your a good man for giving him the price, he still has to pay a consignment fee I am sure. I ran into something similar early December. My go to LGS had a large amount of older Colts and Smiths, all snubs. I ogled a particular Agent that was priced a few hundred below current market. I was there for something else and already having an Agent I passed. I did mention the price being low to the salesman. He was aware and agreed but he stated he was pricing them based on the estate’s wishes.

Collections are hard when one gets older or passes. I already have a family member attached to everything I own.

My brother in law and good friend was an Electrician and used to have a tool fetish the way I do with firearms. He always said he knew that everything in his garage would be for sold for a dollar when he died. This he said was okay because that was how he got most of his tools. He was also a profit. I remember helping my sister liquidate most of the contents of his garage when he passed. He had tools that I had to research to know what they were. I am sure most things went for pennies on the dollar vs. their actual worth. Quite a few young contractors were glowing with their finds. My brother in law would have liked that. I guess in the big scheme of things it’s really just a big pay it forward situation. Hopefully this older gentleman is happy knowing his old revolver will be shot and appreciated.

I don’t have a clue if the gun shop itself is dog friendly. The area is part of the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Your dogs will definitely like it. Lots of outdoors activities; hiking Year around, river sports in the warmer months and fine hunting in season.
