I have the original LCP. Thinking about replacing it with the LCP Max, but getting rid of 380 and replacing it with the Beretta APX A1 carry would be even better. Looks like the APX is a decent amount larger so concerned with getting it in and, most importantly, out of my jean pocket if I were to need it.

I carry the LCP in a Desantis pocket holster so I'd like to put the Beretta in something similar as well.

Anyone have any experience with both?

Well, I have both. I have about 275 rounds through the LCP Max, and the APX A1 Carry is brand new to me, as I have not yet taken it to the range. Regarding your question about fitting the APX in your jeans pocket...there is no way on GOD's green earth that I would attempt to carry the APX in my jeans pocket. No way it would fit, and even if it did, boy, would it ever "print" and be difficult to extract. To me, the Beretta needs an IWB or OWB holster. The LCP max is the largest pistol I would ever try to pocket carry.

I have to agree with cnj. I pocket carry a lcp max in jeans and anything bigger wouldn't work. One thing about the lcp is the rear of the slide is sloped which helps it come out of the pocket.

I don't have a Beretta APX A1 Carry but I do have a Ruger LCP MAX and it's just about perfect for pocket carry. It has a very streamlined shape to it and it weighs in at 10.6 oz. I also use a DeSantis pocket holster and it works fine carried in my front pocket, staying in place as I complete my draw.

The APX Carry (I know it's not the A1 Carry but I'd bet it's pretty close to the dimensions of the original APX Carry) is slightly taller, longer, wider and weighs around 9 oz. more than the Ruger. Another plus is that the LCP MAX has four more rounds in the magazine (10 to 6 and 12 to 8) than the Beretta.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention that until 10/31/22 there's a $100 rebate on the APX A1 Carry.

Let us know what you decide to get.

Are those size numbers with the 6rd magazine or the extended 8rd magazine? Have a feeling it's based on the 6rd and it's barely smaller than a P365 but the 365 is 10rds and the extended mag is 12rds

There's more than one model (size) APX?

I believe there is an APX-A1 full size and an APX-A1 carry which is considerably smaller. Both are too large for me to pocket carry. If I am going to IWB carry I will go for the XDS in .45acp. OWB I will go for the XD-Mod 2 in .45 acp.

The biggest gun I can pocket carry is my DB9 and it is "just" small enough to fit in my pocket and still be able to draw it reliably. Personally I would not trade my LCP for an LCP Max. I carry my LCP a lot during the summer when I am wearing shorts. I don't like carrying anything even a bit large than the LCP while wearing shorts. If I can't get my butt out of trouble with 7 x .380 shots I don't see what a half dozen more rounds is going to do to help me since I will probably already be dead anyway.

It looks like the APX-A1 carry is a good bit bigger than a CM9. I love my Kahr CM9! It is an EXCELLENT pistol but too big for me to pocket carry.

If I am going to carry a gun as big as an APX-A1 Carry I will carry my XDS with the harder hitting, bigger hole making .45acp.

1b-Beretta Fiber Optic.jpg Beretta has the full size APXA1, surprised to hear the Centurion and Compact were not upgraded. I have the Centurion, upgraded to adjustable fiber optic sights, great shooter, was disappointed shooting a friend's original Carry. The A1 may be worth checking out.

The APX Carry model in a kydex pocket holster carries and draws just fine in loose fitting cargo pants and is my usual carry method. Smaller pockets of other pants would be an issue. Though dimensionally similar an LCR can sometimes work a little better in some pants. No experience with an LCP.

After I put a different trigger in it my Max is my most carried summer pistol.

I can pocket carry my Shield with cargo shorts, but its a little chunky. Jeans would be a no go for the Shield, although my Beretta Pico works, but it is tight

I carry the MAX in a jeans pocket, also in a Desantis Nemesis (actually, a Superfly, but with the cover flap removed.) It is typically backing up another gun worn on the hip, but I have been considering ditching belt carry for tucked-in shirts as I finally shed a few more pounds.

I recently gave my old Kel-Tec PF9 a go in another DeSantis as a jeans-pocket gun to see if it would work, and it actually would. Part of the reason for the consideration is that I really don't like how deep in the pocket the smaller guns ride. I dislike having my hand in the pocket beyond the wrist; that can both disrupt the draw, and one's hand can essentially be "locked" in a pocket by an assailant who grabs it.

For most of the jeans I wear (and I only wear jeans when not working), the PF9 will ride easily. I do like the higher capacity of the MAX (one of my pairs of jeans even allows the 12-round magazine in place), but I also favor the larger grip, higher ride, and harder hit of the Kel-Tec.

The PF9 is the largest I can see for myself in a pocket gun for jeans. I'm not familiar with the APX at all.
