I solved the problem the best way there was by not buying a Ruger MK series gun. I heard about the takedown complexity and just said heck no.

Browning Buckmark. Same accuracy. Easier takedown. Dont need an FFL for barrel swaps.

I honestly dont know how Ruger sells any MK guns when Buckmarks exist.

I have never broken a MK down and I dont want to though I think I could easy enough. Just not worth it in my opinion.

Maybe mine just doesn't like Mini-Mag HPs...never tried another brand of HP. But it feeds lead and copper plated perfectly. Front sight also comes loose a lot, I need to locktite it. And the mags rust easier than any other mag i've ever seen in my life, lol.

But still its a great gun.

I agree, Earl. I sold my Ruger Mk III and bought a Buckmark. I like it MUCH better.

Some folks obsess a little too much about tearing down their Mk I/II/III's. Unless it's malfunctioning, leave it together. You don't need to tear your gun apart in order to clean and maintain it.

Q-tips, a toothbrush, boresnake, and some good oil and you're good to go. ;)

I agree with you, Mad, and I was one of them. My theory was that if I did it often enough I'd get good at it. Nope, didn't work.
