If the basic wood/stainless (very good condition) Mini 30 belongs, would gladly post photos, but don't understand the procedures.
In addition to 20-rd. factory magazines for the Mini 14, Ruger has also sold them for the Mini 30 for several months.

Both Mini calibers should be gaining popularity due to the availability of these larger mags (and the 6.8?), and a number of LEOs have Minis in their patrol cars.

Question. I'm looking for the best of the best scope mount for my Mini-14. In your opinion what is THE BEST scope mount. And I'm not looking for a scout scope mount.

I have Nikon Bushmaster with BDC very happy with it so I have two of these.

Picked this up here the other day.

Target model with ATI stock.
I will have my smith cut down the barrel aprox 10cm and re-thread it.
Its borrowing my .22lr scope. A leupold 2-7x33 is on the wishlist + some more mags :)

I have a 180 Series I bought in 1974. It'll give an ar a run for its money. Took plenty of deer in Georgia with it where I lived at the time.

Looks like I came late to this party. However here is my mini-14, good looking and more reliable than many men I know! :)

I do usually use larger mags at the range.

MFS Zinco coatedAmmo from Hungary and Russian ammo in .223 safe to use in Mini-14?

Are these Ammunitions safe to use in a Ruger Mini-14 vs. regular brass .223?
The MFS is a shiny silver zinc coated casing. The Russian ammos are laquer coated casings.

I have not tried Russian or steel ammo in my Mini-14, but my Mini-Thirty will absolutely not shoot Wolf steel ammo. I stick with other quality brass ammo.

My old '90 Mini 14 was the most reliable gun I've ever had (more so than my SKS), and used only Russian ammo: about 1,000 rds.

I bought it in February '08 and the torn silver sticker on the stock said "State of Indiana".

WORKS with irons too! Scopes break. I don't pamper my rifle(s). I have been "training" with irons since I bought the rifle a little over a year ago. I have no problems hitting a beer can at 100 yards 9/10 times. That's all I need her to do, she's not a target rifle. That said, I do have a Burris 2.75x Scout on the way, and I'm on the quest for an Ultimak to mount it on.

What about laser optics?

here's a few more, keep it going...

I've been happy with the free Ruger rings that came with the rifle. Also, I think the Redfireld 2-7x scope at $175 msrp (made by Leupold) is the best bang for the buck. Having said that, I prefer just irons on my mini. It can shoot long but when I go to shoot over 200 yards, I usually take my bolt action rifle with a 2.5x or 4x scope, which is more than adequate for distances out to 400 yards. Seeing better or bigger doesn't make you shoot better at these distances, just more wiggle in the crosshairs IMO.

.223 or 5.56? They are designed to take either. I have shot both.
Mine seems to favor the 5.56 in 100 meter groups.

Mine is a spot on accurate rifle. One of the very few rifles I have purchased new.
I felt it was worth the reasonable reatil price and still do.
