Sure you can modify a SKS to take detachable mags, but to my understanding this setup in not reliable and is quite expensive.

Or..... you can buy an SKS that already came that way. They are reliable (mine is anyway) and they are not quite expensive.

Mine doesn't, but I can live with that. If I haven't gotten the job done after 30 rounds (whatever that job might happen to be) I suppose the bolt not holding open is the least of my concerns....
