I never cease to be amazed by what people will spend money on to make a firearm better LOL!

About 10 years ago or so, Ruger put that flash hider on a few models of guns instead of simple thread protectors. Even the 10/22 got it on some models.

That’s the only time I have used an extra flash hider like that, on .22’s, as a thread protector.

If I have enough barrel, I prefer to use a piece of it but then that’s one more thing to keep track of when it has a can on it.

I never liked the look of those AC-556 flash hiders. They must work ok, since they had them on guns for years. But that style just has a weird look to my eyes.
