Do the latest Ruger Mk III 22/45 magazines work in the old Mk II 22/45's?
I know the reverse shouldn't work because of the mag safety feature on the Mk IIIs.

    Thanks.

They will work, but the mag catch protrusion tends to hang on the bottom of the magwell when inserting or removing.

Basically the MKIII mag is the 22/45 mag with the MKII bottom

Just realized your title is for MIII vs. MKII and you message body is for the 22/45 vs. 22/45 MKIII. I have both versions of the 22/45 and the mags interchange.

Sorry, I realize the standard MkII/III magazines are entirely different from the polymer framed 22/45s. I was specifically asking if the Mk II 22/45 models could use the newer AP10MKIII mags.

Thanks for answering my question. Do the original 22/45 mags even work in the 22/45 MkIII? Or just the newer mags in the older 22/45?

I use them both ways, newer model to older and vice versa. The Mark III magazines will work in your 22/45. You just have to swap out the short plastic bottom block for the longer 22/45 block. The magazine bodies are identically sized. The Mark III mags have the locking bump in the same position as the 22/45 magazines do. When the newer model Mark III came out one of the changes was to move the magazine catch up on the frame like the 22/45. They simply used a similar system for locking the magazines in place.

    Hope this helps.
