I was wondering whether there were any owners of these guns on the site and whether they would be kind enough to share some of their experiances or give a review of the gun. They seem to be quite reasonably priced.

I've owned a number of Ruger P85 and P89's over the years... also (1) P91 in .40 caliber.

In my experience with the Ruger P Series - one word comes to mind.

BOMBPROOF.

All of mine were 100% function wise with whatever ammo I ran in them. They are big guns. Not something I would try to CCW in jogging shorts but concealable enough with winter clothing. They were all more than capable of "acceptable" accuracy. Very good guns that are priced very well.

i had a p95, it was accurate, and reliable, and that is about all i need, they are tough built too. i only got rid of it because i figured out i don't like da/sa guns other than that i have no complaints.

i also had a p345 and tough initially i had major reliability problems, that were later fixed by ruger, it was the most accurate handgun that i have ever owned.

I agree. I have a 1993 p89. The most well built pistol and solid pistol you can find. A little big but can be concealed well with the right rig. My mags hold 15 rnds but I only load 10 and carry another 10 on my other side. Weight is only 2 pounds but cutting back on ammo carry helps a little. Most people want to carry a light gun but then they will carry 17 rnds in the gun and a spare mag, Lugging a box of ammo just defeats the purpose of a light gun. Muzzle flip is very controlable with the weight and size of the p89.The P95 is lighter with the polymere frame. Medium to large hands are best with the P series. Distance from backstrap to trigger longer than average. Never ever Jams and will feed anything! Hope this helps

My P89 has thousands and thousands of rounds through it... it has never malfunctioned due to the weapon.... I did once have a primer pop out of a milsurp round and jam the action until it was racked again....

I've owned both the P-89 and the P-95. Both were excellent and reliable pistols. NEVER a failure of any type. Not the slimmest, lightest, or prettiest, but it does what its supposed to, every time. Great price point too!

ditto

I put many cases of Russian steel case ammo through my P95 before the price of ammo went so high. I never had any problems with the gun and it has killed a lot of plates.

Even tho Ruger autos aren't "popular" cherished pieces, they are well loved by people who want a reliable, relatively inexpensive, quality handgun.
I had a P90 back around 1990 which i didn't own for much over 1 year,i was young and needed beer money most likely. But that gun never gave me issues and was extremely accurate with good ammo.
my local shop always has a few great lightly used all the way to abused rugers for sale, best value there imo.

I had a P-345 in stainless that I traded off. It was a very reliable and accurate shooter. I just didn't care for the feel of it. Great gun though, just wasn't for me.

Have owned a P85, a pair of P95's, and a P94. All were totally reliable and bomb proof. Great pisotls.

I have matching stainless p95 and a p97. Both are stone cold reliable. The p97 is really accurate. Both make very good home defense guns. You know they will go bang if you need them. Mark

I have a P89, shoots everytime, extracts every time, ejects everytime. Tens of thousands of rounds. Never had to do anything to it. May replace the recoil spring pretty soon. Bombproof is a good description.

I have a P97 I bought about 5 years ago. Several thousand rounds through it including several IPSC and IDPA matches. Not one hic-cup. Great pistol for the money. You can't go wrong with a Ruger P-series. Mine now resides in the bedside safe for home protection as it is easier for my wife to use than my 1911. You can conceal a P-series but the frame is a bit wide.

Have had my P-90 for 3 years now with around 8k rounds thru it. Goes bang every time and its more accurate than I am. I put a new spring in it at around 4k not that it needed it but I hated the pogo stick sound of the old one.

I had a DC -89 in 9mm for over 15 years as my bedstand gun I trade it because I got a CCW and it was 2 heavy to carry. I am waiting to find a used Ruger in a 45 for a Big Bore Nightstand gun.

Had a p85 mII sold it, not because it wasn't a good gun. I just love revolvers.
I had no problems with it, will probably miss it.
