Picked up a P95 a while back for a good price seeing as whats going on right now. been to the range twice ant put over 100 rounds through it. The first time went pretty good. This weekend when I went it had a lot of problems with jamming. Most of the time the casing would not fully eject and get stuck in the slide as the new one was feeding. Once it left the case in the chamber and tried feeding a new round in. It also failed to lock the slide back alot. Happened both with some win hollow points and some PPU fmj. the PPU seemed quite a bit hotter but seemed to have more problems. Its the old style but you couldn't tell it had been fired or hardly handled when I got it. Bad ammo or gun problem? or just me?

Have you cleaned it very thoroughly yet? I've seen new p95s that were shot "dry" right out of the box and suffered similar symptoms.. Also it sounds like you might have a magazine issue, if the factory ones aren't working for you try mec gar they make some very high quality 17 rounders for p95s. I have several and they work well.

I had that problem with mine at one time. Found i forgot to oil the inside of the slide.A drop of oil in the groves fixed the problem

I cleaned it before I went shooting but I don't remember oiling it a lot so Ill do that before I go out next time. I used both the factory 10 round mags and a 17 round mec gar mag. Both had problems. I don't get why the one case didn't get removed from the chamber at all though. Extractor problem?

Look at the ejector. It should be parallel to the slide. This piece is easy to bend, especially if you forget to push it down before removing the slide.

A few years ago I had a similar issue with my p95. It had been sitting loaded, and dirty, in my gun safe for about a year. At that point I had put alot of rounds through mine. WWB was around 12.00 a hundred. One day I decided it was time to run it through its paces and shot it without cleaning it. My first problem was the rounds would nose dive in the mag when feeding. I tried a new recoil spring, thinking that the slide needed to be slowed down a little. This did not fix it, so I replaced the mag springs. The mag springs seemed a little weak, and I thought that they lost their tension due to being loaded for so long. This helped a little, but I was still having failure to feeds.
I then decided that a good detail strip and cleaning was in order. While tearing the pistol down I discovered that there was a really large build up of carbon at the extractor. It was all around it, and under the extractor. The pistol has been 100% every since me cleaning off this carbon.

It certainly sounds as if the pistol is having extraction problems, based on this:
Once it left the case in the chamber and tried feeding a new round in.

The ejector is fairly straight, maybe pointing down just a little bit. Doesn't look terribly bent. Its very clean, not dirty enough to cause problems this bad. Jammed probably a third of the time.

When I've had problems with semi-autos jamming 99% of the time it has been gunk built-up inside the extractor hook. Take a small pick (a dental pick works well) and with the slide off scrape under the extractor and see if there's any build up. Make sure to remove it all if there is, then reoil the gun. Give it another try after that.

Depending on how dirty the ammo you're using is, after a few hundred rounds that stuff builds up under the extractor and it can't really grip the case like it needs to, so it ends up slipping off half-way out and causing problems. Just scrape it out every time you take the gun down for a cleaning.

Extractor problems can also cause feeding problems. This is because the magazine pushes the round up between the extractor and slide breechface before feeding it into the chamber.

Hadn't seen the videos, but I figured that out from the instruction manual and some googling. Tore it down last night and put a good squirt of clp in the slide grooves and spread it around with my finger. Pulled the extractor out and it was nice and clean but I gave it a little bend inwards which I had read some other places could help. I did give the ejector a little bend upwards so its more parallel don't know it that would do anything but it probably couldn't hurt. It does seem to cycle smoother now so maybe it was just under lubed. Should be able to get out next week and try it see if its any better or not If not I have no idea then.

I haven't personally had issues with my p95 but when someone else has shot mine without oil and cleaning, she experienced stovepipe and double feeding. I ran my 95 through 250 on Thursday evening and after it ran hot, it definitely had a harder time extracting. I would have to say give it a good cleaning and make sure your mag springs aren't factory tight and you should be good to go!

If not I have no idea then.

If you try everything and nothing works just call Ruger. I'm sure they'll take care of it for you. I'm not one of those that suggests sending a gun back to the manufacturer at the drop of a hat, but after you've done all you can do at home and you still have a gun that's giving you trouble then by all means let them fix it.

Its been a while but just an update. I fires about 50 round through it since I lubed it with no problems. I did put a couple mags through it the other day the first worked fine. The second was some win ammo and it jammed about half the time. However it was cold out so that might have had something to do with it. I'll just make sure its lubed good eveytime and see how of does. Seems a lot better though.

What does it look like when the round jams? Is the nose hanging up on the feed ramp? You ran two mags of ammo, but was it with the same mag? Could be that one mag spring is useable, but the other may be bad. It being cold shouldnt effect it. If your gun acts up that much there is an issue. Make sure everything is clean and properly lubed. Replacing the mag springs would be a good cheap place to start.

Same thing happened to me. Put up with it for about 500 rds before I called Ruger and told them I needed the extractor tuned. The nice lady on the phone asked me if I was comfortable putting a new one in myself and sent me a new one. No problems since. They included a prepaid envelope to send the bad one back, so I did and have been happy since then.

Most common one is it fails to eject the spent casing and tries feeding a new round in at the same time. Once in a while it leaves the spent casing in the chamber completely and tries feeding a new round. Mostly problems to extract/ eject. Was the same mag but different ammo. Might just have to give them a call next week and see if they can send me a new part. Gun was used fbut virtually unfired. Looks similar to this.

Is it possible it just didn't like any of the ammo I tried so far? Ran close to 50 rounds of reloads through it the other day without a problem. Didnt clean it before. I'm thinking they just weren't hot enough to get it to fully eject.

Took mine out for the first time last weekend. First 100 rounds (50 S&B, 50 Speer Lawman) ran fine. Then tried a box of some stuff my dad scrounged up a month ago when all the ammo disappeared. Can't remember the name of it. Anyway, it was odd--it would eject the casings, but not pick up the next round. Did this about three times in one mag. I wouldn't even call it a "normal" FTF, where the round gets hung up. Just totally didn't pick it up. But I believe the ammo was the culprit. It did the same thing in my buddy's reliable older S&W Sigma. All that to say that in my case, the extractor/ejector were working twice as hard and did their job.

Travis... Looks like you need to contact Ruger and send it in for a check-up..... They will take care of it most of the time even though they don't have a "lifetime warranty"
I had a P94 back in the day and it would digest anything you put in it.... Nothing more aggravating than a tool that won't work....
