My ruger is having fte issues, I don't want to have to send it in, I think it might be the extracter, any ideas on how to know for sure or other general advice to solve or help solve this problem, thanks in advance.

Examin the hook on extractor. if it looks ok lubricate the snot out of the extractor to work out any crud behind it. see if there is spring tension to hold onto the case. Obvious ,but that is what i'd do.

Second on checking the extractor. Take the slide off, look at it from underneath, and see if there is any buildup. If so, take a metal pick and just remove all that. Might try some Break-Free in that area too just to get at any crevices not exposed. If its really bad you might need to do a total strip and remove/clean the extractor outside of the gun, but I'd avoid that unless you have to - small parts and springs have a tendency to wander off during such ventures :).

If this is a problem that it developed over time (rather than just having issues out of the box), I'd say that its almost certainly a cleaning issue.

Thank you! I will do that, I got the gun from a pawn shop so I'm not sure as to how the previous owner took care of it, I will try the above as soon as I get home, thanks for the fast response and I'll post my results. Thanks again!!

My P95 started having FTE/FTF issues after several thousand rounds and the one area I missed cleaning was around the extractor. I replaced both recoil springs which fixed the FTF problem and after a through inspection I found ALOT of carbon deposit around the extractor. I had to take a pick to clean it. Now it runs 100% again

I've checked out my extractor, it still has a good hook, and it wasn't to much build up, I cleaned it the best I could, I havnt had a chance to get to the range yet, but will post about wether or not the problem is fixed.

Due keep us informed. Also, if you do need to send it back in, Ruger doesn't really care if you're the original owner (if that's what you're worried about). They'll make it right regardless. Its not written (for various reasons), but they have a defacto lifetime warranty on their stuff.
