When shooting in single action, the trigger on a Security Six I have breaks cleanly and crisp. When shooting in double action, though, the trigger does not hit a "wall", making it very difficult to judge where the trigger will break. Is this something that a decent gunsmith could correct, or is that inherent in that model?

None of my double action revolvers "hit a wall" in double action. Some folks glue a rubber or polymer trigger stop on back of the trigger I've also seen it done with a hollow screw threaded into a hole tapped in the trigger) and file to fit, giving resistance just prior to hammer fall. That is probably as close as you can get to what you are describing.

What you describe sounds like a Glock trigger.

That is not something I would want in a double action revolver.
