Gas piston AR that's over priced like the rest of them. Nothing special. Hopefully it will be more accurate than the Mini 14.

    Try a CZ VZ 58.,

If you want something for a hell of a lot less than 2g

    Little brown carbine.

You won't have to go tacticool.

    Or backwards.

    No optics or rails needed

(Iron sights provided, factory, no less)

    Just enjoy shooting it.

    7.62 x 39

Street price will be around $1500 and will compete with the SIG 556, which I think was Ruger's intention. The SRP for Ruger is misleading because they only sell wholesale to distributors that sell to dealers, so it's not like Ruger is selling dealer direct for $1700 and expecting dealers to make $250-300 on the sale. My guess is wholesale is around $1150-1250 and retail will be $1400-1500.

If it proves to be accurate and reliable, I think a "bare bones" version for ~$1,000 (street price) would sell pretty well.

I think Ruger forgot what they do well, i.e. undercut the competition with a product of decent quality.

If it gets good feedback from guys like this board's members I will definitely consider it especially if it is in the 1500 price range. I get the sentiment it is a Ruger so it should be economy but hey Chevrolet makes the Corvette and prices it accordingly.
